I shoot the tips as is, and just sharpen normally.

Hello I have been shooting the caps for about 5 years and have taken plenty of deer with them, they are and absolute fabulous head!!!!! perfect flight and penetrate like no other! I keep the point as is and never had a problem. I have used them with 43-50 pound bows and have always worked flawlessly. I shot a huge doe in 2011 at 17 yards with a 43 pund longbow and got a complete passthrew and the head actually went into the tree behind the deer about half way. GOOD LUCK this year they are killers!!!!

Thanks, guys. I have only shot them into targets so far but they fly real nice, spin like a top, and seem to have good steel in them. Piece of cake to sharpen as well.

Shawn: You know how I feel about them in general. But I have found no need to remove the needle point. Great steel in them.

all true,,,,,, also they take a stropping from the pack nicely and yield an even sharper scalpel edge.
