So I finally broke down and got a new Super Grizzly on the way. I really want to shoot woods out of it. It is 55# and I draw just a smidge past 28" This bow is cut past center and comes with a D97 string. Where would be a good starting point? I have been shooting alum and carbons out of my other bow. Thanks for all of your advice. Andy

I would say 65-70, 29" with 125 gr points. A lot depends on individual technique. A various spine Test kit might save some money and frustration n finding your spine.
Ask me about the Professional Bowhunters Society.

I would say that would be close, you could go a bit longer to start and fool around with point weight!
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

I second the wood test kit. 65-70 seems a little stiff to me, But i like to shoot a little on the weak side of the spectrum

I like heavier points, 160 to 175! Do you plan on building your own arrows? If not, I would contact some of the arrow makers that are sponsors here, Snag is one of them and made a few arrows for me that shoot realy well! With the specs of your bow, and the way you shoot, they could build you a set of arrows that will shoot good out of the box!!

Thanks for all of your input so far. I will be getting a test kit.
