If you call using a grunt tube then Yes I talk to them but I only thank "God" for "His" creation and letting me take a fine creature...

SteveB

I only talk to them if they fall in a swamp, gully etc. Other then that, I go to work. I would never take an avoidable action that I know would lead to the need to apoligize.

I always thank them and just take a moment with my eyes closed to burn the memory in my mind. I also do something a bit different. I remove the heart and go to a soft place and bury the heart. I have done that since my great-grandfather helped me field dress my first deer 30 years ago.
That's a nice gesture, certain'.

But I place the heart beside mashed potatoes and stuffing after THE ADMIRAL roasts it I'm afraid.  Liver the first night (fried with onions in sherry), heart the next.  That's been our tradition for the last 30 years.

At some time during every encounter that appears to be headed for a shot I always pray for wisdom and competence.  So, when a deer drag is due I thank Him for the answered prayer.

I don't talk to the deer and I've stopped talking to myself by the time I've climbed down from the tree.

Only humans carry the burden of remorse. Those who truely care anyhow.

If we use what we kill, there really is no need to apologize. A big dose of thankfullness and humility is in order, but no apologies.

Our thoughts reveal reverence and respect. Being thankful for the gift is what I feel is the cement that binds the whole "process" of our lives to the lives of the plants and animals we share our time with. What we take is physical, what we give back is spiritual. The spiritual is just as important as the physical.

The first thing I do when the realization hits me that I just killed an animal, is to look skyward and give thanks. At that moment my existence is complete and so is that of the animal. I am CERTAIN my thanks are HEARD and FELT, even amongst the roots of the trees.

We as humans, can never show TOO much respect.
The offering of a bit of your candy bar does not go unnoticed.   :campfire:

I always say a prayer to God thanking him for the animal and the life given to give us his meat.
I would've taken better care of myself,if I'd known I was gonna live this long!

RedShaft

not quite like that but i always take a knee and put my hand on the deer and give thanks. my wife took her first deer this year and we both laid our hands on that doe and prayed. i never really feel remorse or bad for what i did, its life...
but i have shed a few tears before, dont alway take alot of deer with bow and it means alot to me when i do.
