TomRes Spyder Speed Silencer

Just wondering what others think about these silencers-

The manufacturer says it will increase the speed of your arrow over regular silencers- do they work?

Thanks!

Pretty much as I expected they get lousy reviews:

That looks like a lot of stuff (screw, plastic, spider itself) to put on a string and not slow it down.

I bought a used bow one time that had the Black Widow Spider Silencers on it and I was unimpressed. Removed them and immediately quieted the bow with some regular old cat whiskers.

For hunting purposes a quieter bow will be far more valuable than a couple of feet per second (fps).

Nothing beats Cat wiskers including the Spyders above.

I have these on my BW it is a quiet as my other bows, with muskrat fur, and wool silencers.

I used some of BW Spider silencers on a couple of longbow and the worked great on them.I didn't shoot through a chrono, but they are really lightweight and silenced the bow.

I have used the BW spiders on my SAX and thought they worked great.

The spider idea was always a little over the top (read: gimmick) to me.  Two sets of round cat whiskers cut down to just a couple inches worked great.

Bears can attack people- although fewer people have been killed by bears than in all WWI and WWII combined.

I've got BW spiders on my Widow and have no problems w/ bow noise.  I do have them "doubled" as i used 2 spiders tied together...

I put BW silencers on my 60" Snowshoe R/D longbow (2 pair) and they work great. Measured the string into quarters which in my case was 14" from each end, marked it, then installed one spider 2" above and 2" below the mark. Did this on both ends. Super quiet.

Sorry, looks like the mention of BW silencers took the thread off track. The original inquiry was about the one pictured which was not BW.

I've never attached anything like that to a trad string. If you've got them already give it a try.

I have never seen spiders put on with screws. I just stick them between the strands. When they wear out you will know it! They will slap together and get loud.
