Hi Folks

Having trouble keeping 190 Grizzly BHs mounted to steel BH adaptors .  Your thoughts appreciated.

I've always used Ferr-L-Tite to mount BHs to aluminum adaptors w/o problems.

First timer with Grizzly's and steel adaptors.

Prior to mounting, I scraped ferrule interior to remove debris from manufacturing process; then cleaned them and adaptors with isoprop.

Heated adaptors to melt Ferr-L-Tite prior to insertion and things seemed ok - until next morning when BH's popped off adaptors with very light pulling.

I realize I can use an epoxy, but I'm trying to tune and lookng to interchange different adaptor weights with BHs - just figured epoxy would make this more difficult.

Mucho grats,

I heat the head and adapter up some , other than that it sounds like you have it covered.

Dido what Drewsbow said, I use ferrltite with my grizzly's and steel insert, never had one pop off.

Heat up the insert, put the hot melt on then heat the head ( don't burn it, just get it good and hot)
press together, spin it, move it if it needs it, then stand it up, point down, let cool.

I don't clean anything, just heat it up good.

If your broadhead is cool it wont stick to the insert

JB kwik weld never had any problems use on my inserts also

Maybe try something a little stronger that isoprop.   I've had to use acetone on some tapered field points to clean the oil out.

Thanks folk, will try your suggestions.

Drewsbow, Kingswouldbe, reason I've avoided heating the actual BH is that it's my understand that I can end up monkeying with the rockwell hardness of the steel if I cook it.  But sounds like I've been too conservative and they can take some heating.

Thanks again !!

There you go, they nailed it for you.  You need to get everything good and hot for a good bond.  It takes a lot of heat to mess with the hardness, as long as your aware of it you'd be hard pressed to have overheat by accident.

I also clean with Iso alcohol and have no problems.

Use jb weld after cleaning with acetone.  Lots of time to tune while it sets up.  Under know circumstances should powerbond be used !!!!!  Good luck, Bhill
