Well after a few months of waiting my new 56" 47lb@27 Saxon Shrike showed up last week. I can say it is a very well built and finished bow. The Shrike shoots great and is very, very quiet. Randy did a unreal job finishing this bow it looks like it is ready for archery show not the woods. IT will be hard to carry this one afield and get a scratch. Sorry about my pictures they don't do the bow any justice the zebra wood limbs are heavy dark grained but don't show up well in this evening light. The bow has back/belly/tips antler overlays with yew limb core zebra limbs, Ebony riser. I put the Shrike next to my 56" SuperShrew and 54" Shrew lit recurve so you can compare the shape of the bows.

Very nice. How does it shoot compared to the Shrews?Personally,I would have trouble keeping that bow OUT of the woods.

Jim I really hate to compare the bows because other than being short they have alot of differences. The handle/grip is fatter(more oldschool) on the Shrike vs the Shrew. The Shrew also has more angled limbs than the Shrike. The Shrew is faster but it has a 450+ string and my Shrike has a B-50 so that could be the difference there. Both bows are super quiet and are easy for me to shoot with great accuracy. Overall they are different short bow designs and I think both bowyers did a great job on their end product. I am happy to be able to own and shoot two super nice short longbows.  :)  I have always wanted a Shrew and a Saxon bow I spent years stareing/dreaming at them on the web and after getting my Shrews I deside to go ahead and place the order with Randy and get the Saxon I always wanted also. Life is good right now!

as you may already know, Randy made some of the old Shrews.....
Is it too late to be what I could have been?
