I use the rubber one out of 3Rivers. I have them on all bows.

I use a piece of surgical tubing about an inch long. Just leave a little hanging off the tip.

I use either the surgical tubing or the rubber protector from Black widow . Water will drain out of both . The black widow has a small hole in the bottom for water to drain out of. I'm always leaning the tip of my bow against my chest when using my binos to scan ahead.

Rubber. Only take it off when I put a new string on. No hole in bottom (I would think that could push dirt in up there). I don't really care if it rubs the finish there (haven't noticed a problem though). I think the rubber gives a little more protection if you drop the bow. (shock absorption).

I have the Saunders bow tip protectors on my bows, but I drilled a small hole in the end of the tip, to let water drain away.

I remove the protector when I am not using the bow regularly.
