Iffy Glue

I filled in some tiny cracks on a bow with super glue over 2 hours ago and its not setting up.  

I have used countless times and normally it dries in 5-10 minutes.  Could it be that I stored it right side up in the container, and the catalyst dried out...?  Any Ideas Guys..?

Super glue doesn't have a catalyst in it.

It has a short shelf life.

How old's the tube?

Older than 12 months should be binned.

If it's been opened previously, shelf life is less than 30 days

Pour something,like sugar over it to seal the air.
There are special products like super fine sand that are,used that way.

Then just sand clean.

I have used lots of it in the past and opened the tube numerous times without problems.  Could be older than 12 months, I will try sealing it.

Spray with CA activator

I use the CA activator. But figured he didn't have it on hand.
I use it when using CA for fletchings a lot.

What wood were you using it on? Some woods may react adversely to super glue like they do to some finishes.
I've never had super glue not have some sort of a reaction when used. If enough is used there is usually a visible off gassing of fumes that is visible and will knock you over if you inhale them.
If it hasn't reacted I would eliminate what's there and start over with a new batch of super glue.

This has nothing to do with wood all I use is maple. Why buy an activator when 2/3 of the tube is gone anyway. 7-8$ CDN for a new tube.
At any rate I covered the repair area with masking tape and it cured.

I've found black walnut has real long set times with superglue---like 4x longer

Maple.  I covered the glue area with masking tape and it cured.

Did some poking around.
CA resins are monomers that polymerize in the presence of water.
Strange that there wouldn't be enough water present in any wood you'd use for a bow.
