Here's a little matching pair of neckers I made for fun.  Steel is 1080, scales are book-matched quilted maple, and pins are brass and copper.  The second picture shows how the sheath secures/releases the knives.  I'm pleased with how light, comfortable and secure this sheath design is.  The smaller knife is 3.5" overall with a 1.25" blade while the large knife is 5.5" long with a 2" blade.  Thanks for looking.  :)

Thanks, all. I appreciate the kind words. It's fun to be able to share work with each other and gain confidence, yet receive helpful critique along the way to make improvements and learn.

Steve: Looking forward to seeing yours!  I'm sure it'll look outstanding!

Kansas:

Ninja:  Although I like the "rustic" finish on the steel, I wish it were less drastic.  That is, it's caused by too much oxygen and heat.  I'm working with an open coal forge, which can get REALLY hot and allows a lot of oxygen to contact the metal.  I screwed up a bit on these two and got them a tad too hot.  Also, I didn't brush the scaling off as I normalized the blades.  Lesson learned, I guess.  I'm learning how to better control the heat on my forge, but I just spaced off on this pair.

All in all, I like the look, but NOT the effect on the steel.  I guess the bright side is, the knives are short and won't be subjected to much abuse.
