LIBERTY'S NEW CHIEF...

A little while back I read that Allen Boice had refined his Liberty Chief, and no sooner than I had processed those few words did I possess the known truth that I had to have one.  I've made peace with these compunctions, acknowledging that the first step to recovery is a look in the mirror.  Then again, shooting trad bows is not so bad a vice as a filterless Pall Mall.  After some correspondence with Allen about woods he would remark that he had some very nice stuff at his place in Gold Beach.  I imagined a weatherbeaten shanty from a Homer painting that housed Allen's "Myrtle of Gold Beach".  This would be a long wait.  The last week would be like wading through peanut butter after receipt of work in progress photos.

My very first trad bow was a Chief, as was the bow used to take my best traditional buck.  Furthermore, a Chief is what I've been shooting almost exclusively since January of last year.  All different bows.  What Allen has done with this is quite exceptional.  As every Fender is a great guitar, the Custom Shop does something special.  If my other Chiefs were sent to the Custom Shop I imagine this is what would come back.  He subtly reinterpreted his riser to shape a hip, of sorts, for a very repeatable grip without going all the way to a thumb rest.  This Chief prefers a stiffer spine arrow than its previous iteration.  This is a well-mannered shooting experience, with all of the ferocity of a radical hybrid; a waltz in longbow nirvana.  Thank you Allen Boice.

My oh my does that have some beautiful contrasting woods. And the figure in the riser is just awesome. Can you share a unstrung and strung view?

Congrats on your new bow.  :clapper:

Nice looking bow.  Is the limb profile the same as the older Chief?

Thank you everyone!  Allen's work is certainly exceptional.

Orion, the limb profile is brand new.  Asking Allen about the heightened performance of this bow he shared that he changed it many times after departing the old form before arriving here.

Longbow56, this bow is 64", and 53# @ 26".

Here is a photo for Joe.

Have a Happy Easter everyone, Chase

Chase, she's a beauty! Allen has really come up with a great new design. This will be my next bow. Here's to many happy days afield with your new friend.

Thanks for the information,  it's a beautiful bow

Very, very nice Chase!  I have two Liberty bows now so
I have to fight the urge for another.  I like my Chief a lot, but the Contender is a sweet bow also.
