After such a wonderful DIY elk hunt last year I really thought I would have to sit this year out because of time and money. Well, it turns out my lovely wife gave me the go ahead to go again this year!

I put in enough vacation for 16 days of living out of my pack. I have been hiking with a loaded pack the last couple weekends trying out some new equipment. Here is about mile number 10 of a 15 mile stroll.

This stuff ain't no rocket surgery science!

That's fantastic. I wish I was heading to the mountains this year but I have to sit out due to time and cash. I'll be heading to the mountains next fall though. Good luck and enjoy the trip.

good luck Rob!

Sounds like a good excuse to whip up a nice stout self bow.

Good luck Rob!

By the way, is that Clifty Falls State Park your hiking in?  I did some early summer training there a couple of years ago for an elk hunt....nice trails.

Westbrook, I have a nice 67# osage and some heavy bamboo arrows ready to go but I need to shoot it more before I will feel comfortable taking it.

Rick, that is a trail around Indian and Celina lake. I would like to hike Clifty Falls this year before it gets too hot.

I can't wait! I'm planning to take 16 days also...kinda hurts giving up my whitetail rut vacation but I really want an elk and can hunt whities on the weekends.

Congratulations and good luck! I wish my wife would give me the go ahead on a few adventures I have in mind.

We are only allotted a certain number of years in our lifetimes.  If you miss one in the mountains you can never get it back.  Glad that you're going to make it!

In the end, it is not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years. Abraham Lincoln.

That's awesome!

I love the mountains.  A buddy and I do a trip for sheds about every year, and I definitely get "the call" about Feb/March to return!

Good luck!
For we did not follow cleverly contrived myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ; instead, we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.

Best of luck Brother! I sure wish I could have gone with you. Pick me out a good spot for next time. Can't wait to hear about the adventure.

The fulfillment of your hunt is determined by the amount of effort you put into it  >>>---->

Good luck, but have a great time. Will be there next year.
Bowhunting is a passion, not an obsession. Its just hard for my wife to tell the difference sometimes.

That's why I moved to north  Idaho. Time and money.
Now I can just walk to the mountains. Glad your wife gave you the go ahead good luck
