brace height and draw lengths and their effects on bow noise?

i was playing with my border recurve in an attempt to make it quieter and have found that a brace height that is higher is quieter FOR ME. these borders are designed to run a lower than usual brace height of between 6-7". mine seems quietest at the high end to more than the recommended brace height.

i began to wonder whether the optimum brace height for low noise on a given bow would vary with draw length or remain the same regardless of draw length?

i have a short draw so i wonder if that's why i need a high brace to get least noise?

I have about a 30 inch draw length and with a long power stroke like that I have a tendency to brace my bows on the high side and generally that does also tend to make them quieter...but I have two takedown bows that actually get noisier if I brace them just a quarter inch too high...I am really not sure what the recommended brace height is for either of those bows, but in any case recommended is only that, a starting point

Higher brace height is almost almost quieter regardless of draw length, at least on recurves.  A lower brace height eeks out just a tad more performance. The key is to find the sweet spot between the two extremes.

BTW, the extremely recurved tips on a Border probably accentuate that relationship  The lower the brace height, the more of the string makes contact with the limb tips, (and the more the string vibrates as it reaches brace height at the shot)  and thus the greater potential for noise. Same occurs with any recurve, it's just that the Border has so much recurve at the tips.
