2022 has been a little better than 2021 so far. I was able to shoot a few arrows at the charity shoot and hit most of the targets.. Longhammock 2022 starts Feb 27, 2022

The 2022 shoot schedule is now posted in a separate thread so it doesn't get buried ...
https://www.tradgang.com/tgsmf/index.php?topic=178543.0

.... it has been a busy few week of range clean up... Mark brought in a huge dumpster for all the shot out targets and styrofoam blocks... Tom and his brother Mike, cut up that gigantic oak that fell on the back side of the course last year, and mowed the main trail... they have it looking good... a couple of days ago, I went back out there with Tom;  we cleaned up the practice range, and camp area... We also reset/relocated a few targets.... the bad news is, the xl big panther on the rock at station #6 is now a shoot-thru, and need to go... and the big bear at station #4, isn't far behind...the good news is we have more new rinehart targets coming....   a couple of turkeys, a racoon, a fox, and an antelope... it is going to be a good season!...
...and thats the news from longhammock, "Where everyone shoots above average, and nobody keeps score."

... went out to the longhammock range with Tom this morning to re-reset the large elk and 1/3 caribou again.... with all the rain, what looked like a good setup, ended up under water.... they are now at station 14...
.... the practice range is all cleaned up and the block target is now set at a measured 20 yards with a new 5 spot target face, along with a 15yd deer and bear, a 20yd panther, and a 45yd hero shot on a bedded doe... it looks good...

... fried fish , cheese grits, hushpuppies, coleslaw, and more are on the menu for this sunday's shoot....
...the weather is going to be perfect, so no excesses..."...and if your to busy to shoot, your life is just to busy..."

...and that's the news from Longhammock, where everyone shoots above average, and nobody keeps score...

...the 4/24 shoot was one of the best we’ve had… we had a smoked hog...
… last friday(4/22), Rob took me and Mike hog hunting back behind his place…. Man is it (still) wet back there…. We hadn’t walked in 300 yards when I spotted 3 little pigs (I know… insert joke here…) about 80 yards out in the field…. I was way out of range for my 12ga, but Rob had a Savage 99 in 32-40...(nice old cartridge) …. and rolled him with an iron  sight head shot… pretty impressive…
...4:30am Sunday morning he was on the smoker, and 7 hours latter, he was lunch!...There’s not much better than a whole hog pig picken’… nobody went home hungry… thanks to everyone who came out ... see ya at the next shoot  :campfire:

Outlaw archery report for may 22nd :

We had a nice turnout today…. And it turned out to be “new bow” day…. Kara has a nice looking new 3pc recurve she got from Big Jim, Tom has a new horse bow from 3Rivers, that weighs about 12oz , Vickie got a new WF-19  riser and Uukha limbs for Brian, Eddie has a new WF-19…. WoW… all nice bows…
...Lunch was awesome… I know I say that every single time, but that’s because its awesome every single time…. Today's cookout  was flame seared peppered venison skewers, fried green tomatoes, deep fried sides, and a homemade southern peach cobbler… now that’s a lunch!...
...and...
… the moose target is up!… Huge is an under statement… that dark spot to the left of the moose in the first pic is me...
... it is on a 6' x 10' frame...

...thanks to everyone who came out ... see ya at the next shoot  :campfire:

… 06/19/22...  ...with all the prep work, and making sure I didn’t forget anything at 4:00am, I forgot to bring the camera, so, sorry no pictures this time….
...The Pig roast turned out really good… they went on the smoker at 5:30am and cold smoked until 9:00… then foil wrapped and finished at 300° until noon… it was fall off the bone tender…. There were the usual fried sides, along with coleslaw, potato salad, grilled corn on the cob, watermelon , and Penny’s homemade peach cobbler!!!…

….turn out was good , and there were several groups out on the course…

… I shot in the “just for fun” group… the group behind us was the “$- a- shot” group; Mark and Eddy cleaned-up, Brian did ok, and Scott busticated the bell target… I hope to have it repaired by the next shoot…

...and thanks again to Dave for the pigs, and to Rob, for a place to hunt them…
… Prayers for Morgan, Prayers for Wade…

...and that's the news from Longhammock, when everyone shoots above average, and nobody keeps score....

...see ya'll at the next shoot...  :campfire:

… The 2022 Longhammock 3D season has now come to an end, and it turned out to be pretty good…Thanks to everyone who came out this year…  we started off with a total range cleanup, and a literal truck load of new Rinehart targets… and thanks to Frank for the 3D Apple,  Tom for the bell, and Kara for the moose… fun targets  make for a fun shoot...
… and I gotta say 2022 really kicked it up a couple of notches in the cook-out department…
… grilled venison , fresh tuna steaks, fried trout and blackened snook, smoked barbecued pork to a whole hog pig pick’in… We eat good, to say the least, and add in  cheese grits,  Penny’s fruit cobblers and banana puddings with all the fried sides, it was a fun way to spend a Sunday…

...My goal for Longhammock 2023, is to build a cinder block barbecue pit… When they say “real pit  whole hog barbecue” they mean a block pit… it’s an art, and I’m good at it… just need to get a pit built… stand by for news...

...prayers for Wade and Andy, prayers for Morgan,  Lance, and Robert...

...and thats the news from Longhammock, where everyone shoots above average, and nobody keeps score… see ya'll in February :campfire:
