Feathers (winners chosen)
« on: January 17, 2013, 10:34:00 PM »
I am looking for a design for my first set of custom wood arrows. Please post a picture of something you would not mind if I were to copy and the design I like best gets 36 feathers of you choosing shipped to you.

Unfortunately I only have RW feathers but I have all these colors in shield and parabolic. I will choose the winner Sunday night.

(Hint: red and black arrows have been my choosing in the past)

Over the years I've found I prefer bright, one-solid-color fletching with matching cap and nock (all yellow, all orange, etc.) when making my arrows, with just a very simple crest.  Not fancy for sure, but that one big spinning patch of color catches the eye very well and there's nothing better that watching an arrow arcing in flight...especially a woodie that you made yourself.

Here's a few pics, sorry for the quality.  The pink arrow originally had a pink nock (busting nocks happens).  I didn't have a pink replacement at the time.

You're gonna like your new hobby.  It's like dessert after the main course (which is shooting your bow, of course).

BTW, being a Hill shooter I have to say that's a beauty of a bow you made.  Very nice work!

OK, I'll play because when I'm mentally and physically burned out, I like to build arrows.

I'd splice the second from the right with a white back then put it on a marbled like Damon posted above
If you need some help with the splicing let me know.
