Just want some opinions from people that own either the new 59 or a replica. Thanks.
Been wanting to shoot one.
I have shot one of the 59 replica from Vintage Works and thought they were outstanding...better than originals. I have not shot the new Bear version of same but have heard good things as well. I prefer the looks and detail on the Vintage Works...but if a true BEAR means more then go with the New Models.
That being said I dont think the 59 is the best shooter...best looking for sure but for overall looks and shootability (ie grip) I prefer the 1959 Hybrid from Vintage Works...the looks of the 59 but better feel and performance. :)
I can't say enough good things about mine. I've got a new bear.its been my go to bow since I got it a year ago. I've got smaller hands and that handle fits me perfect
Possumjon - Is your's a Bear Archery product or another company made replica?
thanks
I have owned 3, an origional a reproduction and a New model Bear. All 3 shot good, I just couldn't get used to the grip. The workmanship on the new bears is top notch( except for the leather grip) you are just limited to what they offer as far as wood and glass. The reproduction I had shot great, but I kinda wanted one made by Bear. Like mentioned above you have to decide what is important to you.
The new Bears are very nice quality. I handled several at TBOF at Big Jim's tent and I was impressed.
Mines a bear a cherry product. I agree, the leather wrap is junk. I took mine off within a few months. I plan on trapping a beaver this year to replace the grip but kind of like it as us without one.
Jons bow is super quiet. Quietest bow I've heard.
The bear 59 re introduction bow is outstanding!
Most impressive.
It points
It's fast........very fast
It's quiet
It's comfortable
It's the real thing
I'd love to shoot one if the new Bears I've heard nothing but good things about them
I have 3 replicas of the 59' Kodiak...all made by Ed Holcomb. They are real hotrods.... .! Great design.......the Bear is nice...
Anyone with a longer draw shoot one? I draw 30" and wondered how they would feel-referring primarily to the new Bear at 60" AMO length.
The newer Bear Kodiak's are a great shooting bow in my opinion. After I shot a buddies I just had to get me one for myself.Love the old style look and performance I get, fast and quiet. The only negative was the factory string,a 16 strand D97 and the loops were to large.First thing I did was to twist up a new BCY-X string for mine as I do with any new bow I get.
The build quality of the new Bear 59's is on par with anything out there.
