Hunted a small hill country ranch 2500 acres and got lucky on the third day. My buddy shot a real good one on the first day with a compound. Was going to shoot a few hogs but only saw one so we left early. The one I saw was a real nice one but was super wired. I took a long shot but the hog was long gone before the arrow got there. The field pic of the ram doesn't show how thick his horns are but the pic in the cabin with the outfitter does. The bases were 12 1/2" and 12 1/4" and the length was 27". My buddy's was 29". All free range.

Wow! That's an amazing animal. Congrats!
Cool critters congrats. I saw a group of them when we were on a hunt in Hondo. I never could get close enough to them for a shot.
Congratulations on your success.

Congrats Terry!!!! A taxidermist buddy has several full bodied mounted in his shop, they are one cool looking critter and from what he tells me an exceptional critter to kill with a bow....CONGRATS
Congratulations. What a trophy!
Sounds like a cool winter hunt for us northern folks.
Awesome Trophy Ram
Congrats
That's awesome! Very beautiful animal. How are they for table fare?
Just last night, I was doing some research on some kind of Texas hunt. I REALLY want to get a blackbuck antelope. And I figured while I was there I'd like to try for something else.
Can you give anymore hunt details please...PM is fine.
COOL
Cool ram. How are they for eating?
Congrats Terry on your nice Ram.
Tony
That's one animal on my bucket list. Good job.
That's a heavy aoudad! one of my wish list hunts
Congratulations!
The hunt was at the Bow Ranch near Sabinal, TX. By the way Terry's aoudad was the first Traditional kill they have ever had on the ranch. They were pretty excited over his success and will give hope to some trad hunters coming to hunt in FEB. He made a very difficult shot with his longbow out of a ground blind.
Nice ram Terry! How does it taste?
Nice ram, congrats!
I want to get one of those. How do they taste.
So what equipment were you using? We all like to hear what the other guy uses. Congrats!
Nice Ram..! Would like to get down there and hunt them some day.
Awesome Terry! I've always wanted to hunt those too.
That is awesome!!!!

I was shooting 52# Centaur, AD trads with 300 grain cutthroat heads with a 100 grain insert for a total weight of 780.
As far as the meat goes my buddy(Tony)took his to the butcher and asked about processing it. The butcher said if it is a female or young he can make sausage with it. He then asked Tony if he had a pic of it then when he saw the pic he said I won't even let you bring it into my shop. :scared: I wish I would have tried it, the meat looked good and I didn't notice any odd smell.
If anyone is interested in this hunt PM me for the outfitters name and number. He only takes 2 people at a time and only 4 or 5 hunts a year and bow only.
Crazy Terry! I would have been so proud of that ram I would have eaten every bit of it even if it tasted like an old sneaker!
Congrats on the Kill.
Congrats!!!! :clapper:
How are the hunts, spot and stalk? Blinds?
Congratulations!!! I have always wanted one ever since running into one on a military base in Texas. Also I think they are probably the only sheep that I could afford to hunt.
Hunts are primarily over feeders. The area does not really lend itself to spot and stalk. Very hilly thick vegetation and to be honest not suer how you would ever see one in the distance. I guess you could walk thru the cover and look for them but the rocky ground was very noisy. We had four blind sights and the shot distances were not very conducive to traditional gear for me to make an ethical shot so I opted out and used my wheel bow.
I hunted the blind Terry took his sheep at the day before and noticed it had promise as far as shot distance plus I saw a pretty nice ram coming in past the blind. I backed out and Terry hunted it the next evening. The rest is history.
The hunt is very affordable and one of the cheapest I found anywhere in TX that had good previous success.
Geezzzzzz.....what a great experience that must have been.....impressive animal and unique kill.
Congrats!!!
Outstanding harvest....
Congrats!
