Title: deliverance of all places
Post by: joe ashton on December 08, 2015, 04:36:00 PM
I am laying bed with fresh case of the sniffles (or eboli not sure which). To pass the time  I'm rereading Jay Masseys book 'A thousand campfires'.  He has a very profound quot from the movie Deliverance.. "A man has to control himself before he can control his bow".
How true.  One of the things I like about trad gear.
Joe   :D

What should have been said in the movie was "Get away from that log Ned!!"

joe, hope you are feeling better by now. Developing sniffles and such ailments is usually a sign that you need to drink a better grade of whisky.

Seriously, I heard that role almost ruined his career.

That hillbilly was in one of Clint's comedy movies that stared that Orangutan (Clyde??)...but forgot the title right now.

BTW, I read that Beatty insisted on just one take for that scene.

Personally, I've always thought Burt should have spent more time sharpening that razorhead. Would most likely have gotten a pass through.
Hope you're feeling better by now.

The hillbilly was actor Bill Mckinney who was born in Tennessee and served in the US Navy on a mine sweeper during the Korean war.

He made lots of movies and was in 7 of them with Clint Eastwood.  He died of cancer in 2011 at age 80.

Yea, if I had been Ned, when my agent came to me with "Babe, have I found the perfect part for you"...I'd have fired them on the spot!
