I am wondering if any of you guys have swapped to an ILF set up and don't care to shoot off the shelf any more?
I have been wanting to try out an ILF bow with an elevated rest, but not sure about it.
To anyone who has shot both a lot, enough time to get used to both, tell me your pros and cons if you don't mind. And why you shoot what you shoot.

Im a longbow guy but have gave ilf recurve a try for last couple years. I shoot off the shelf. Ilf archery is pretty technical. I feel like an elevated rest would throw me way off when switching to my longbows..............Ray
I tend to shoot the ILF bows off the shelf but have also used elevated rests. They are an advantage in that you can use vanes if you want. I don't find much difficulty switching back and forth and also putting LB limbs on and shooting them.

I have three ILF. One is shot off of a TRAP feather rest, one off of sealskin on the shelf and one off of a springy but that one is more of a target bow. You can shoot them anyway you like. Your choice.
I have 2 ILF. They hang on the rack most of the time. The shelf is less problems.
I shot every ILF bow off of the shelf with no more issues than other bows.
Some, like the Morrison, are better suited.
You see wood and aluminum risers for a reason. The wood risers are mostly cut to shoot off the shelf and the center shot cut is closer to the regular riser. I was told to go to the aluminum riser if I wanted to go to a high rest that was adjustable to arrow flight. I wanted to tune the bow to the arrows instead of finding the right spined arrows and tuning to the bow. The aluminum riser is so much more stronger and has most every hole that you would want to use. But it is just a tool and not very warm or pretty.
I shot my ILF rig off the shelf with a plunger... It was a nice bow and shot well. I just went back to my other recurves because I liked them better.
I have thought about shooting my Hoyt Excel riser off the shelf. Problem is the shelf is wide enough to park a Buick on it. Not really meant for off the shelf. On the other hand I have a "Warf" made from a Black Bear riser. The riser is actually radius so I put Velcro on it and side plate. Shoots great but I prefer some type of rest on my recurves. Usually a brush rest cut low.
I shoot my ILF bow off the shelf. I prefer my arrow as close to my hand as possible.
I have one bow with a Bear Weather rest. It's not an ILF but I can switch from the bow with the elevated rest to off the shelf with other bows and don't really have a problem switching.
You can use an elevated rest with any bow, it's not an ILF specific thing. I have tried an elevated rest, but prefer shooting off the shelf.
The arrow flight from something like a Nap flipper plunger rest is outstanding. The adjustability for arrow tuning is second to none. I do prefer off the shelf to hunt with tho.
On the flat metal shelfs I just use a piece of 1/4 thick felt furniture pad you can get from walmart. I still use a plunger button or solid bolt to adjust center shot. You can really dial in your setup this way, I highly recommend it.
It depends on what your goals are? Hunting? 3D?A properly spined arrow off the shelf is not an achilles heel. I hunt and shoot competition 3D and have shot both ways. Now elevated rest can mean two things, a stick on rest or a stick on rest and a plunger.
The tuning ability one gets from a plunger can compensate for a less than perfect arrow spine, or make an arrow tune the way you want on purpose. The benefits of an elevated rest with plunger give you the most room to tinker.
