Got together this morning with KAT and Vintage45 from here on the site to do a stump shoot. Just 3 old guys taking a walk and shooting stumps, cans, and anything that looked like a challenging shot. They went easy on me and my new knee and it was a great time. I took my Hill Wesley Special, boy I like that bow. I didn't shoot all that well today but watching Ken and Marty trying to best each other is a real hoot. I was good to get out and after 3 hours......in need a nap.....lol!
I know about you three . . . but who were the "old guys" you were with?
Hope your season's all you hoped for. :archer:
:biglaugh: Trust me......we qualify as old guys.
Glad the weather held up for you guys. It seemed like the perfect day for sch an activity.
Here is a picture of Ron and Marty from last year.
Lets just say we are still out there having fun, even though we are a year older.

Sounds like great fun!
My brother and I are going for a long stump shoot on Saturday.
I'm sure you guys had a good time and I am glad you're able to get out. Keep that knee healing!
I'm kinda lookin' forward to deer season ending so I can get out after some stumps (before the snow gets too deep)!

Good for you Ron. What happen to the Zipper you were shooting. Great looking bow it is. I hope you the best. Dan
I still have my Zipper........in fact I killed a Bear in Quebec this past June with it. One of my favorite bows.

The hitting the stump part is the problem! :biglaugh:
Glad to see that you got out Ron. The woods have medicinal properties!
If this weather holds stump shooting season may be a long term pastime.........
Well we did it again today 10am till 1pm 50 degrees and sunny......fantastic stumping! I even shot well......the best I have shot in months. Long shots, close shots, easy and tough what a great time!!! Just 3 old guys wasting time and doing it well.......lol!

You're humble, Ken! Anyone who has had the pleasure of shooting with these three knows they ain't blind and are usually on their game!
Glad to see you all got out again!
With the weather like this we may sneak another in next week.......we can only hope!!!
Hey Ron- We still can't top that 50+ yard shot you made at the Rockwood stump shoot.

I forgot about that, Ken. Now that was a blind squirrel finding a nut!
Well we did it again......for the 3rd week in a row weather was mild [45 degrees] and no snow so a'stumping we will go. Spent 3 hours making some great shots and missing some easy ones. Just a great day in December walking in the woods with a bow in hand.
I love stump shooting, ya'll look like you are having fun and thats what its all about. I think its time to take a brake from hunting grab some friends and go stick some stumps.
Glad you guys made it out! It was a great way to spend today!
Looks like fun!
Dang, it sure looks cold up there!!!! We have not had a low below freezing yet!
Looks like y'all are having fun, nd that's what it is supposed to be all about!
Bisch
Bisch, it's balmy up here compared to normal years. Been around 45-50 and no snow.......unheard of most years.
It's good to see your getting out Ron. How's the knee doing?
Sent you PM ronp......... :wavey:
Ron... are those Beech leaves I see all around ? Why are they not still on the trees ? My beeches up in da UP seem to hold their leaves (or many of them at least) till near spring.
Glad you are able to get out. Keeps a man sane.
ChuckC
great post !!!!!
ChuckC, it seems to be a wind thing. If they see wind a lot......they come down. If they are protected at all they stay on till the new one pushes it off in the spring.......lol
Crazy weather Ron, still riding the bike and playing golf down here in PA! :jumper:
GOLF........that's a bad habit I have not developed yet......... :knothead:
Ron W, I like your thinking!
I golfed a bit in my younger days. After about a 20-25 year hiatus, tried it again after I retired. Didn't do as well then. Decided to take a lesson from a pro. He gave me some good advice, and I followed it.
After the lesson, he told me to put my clubs in the garage for a month and not touch them. After that time, forget about them, he said. :goldtooth:
:biglaugh:
Sometimes I feel like I should do that with my longbow.
Ron,
Great to see you'r out and shooting. The knee must be getting better.
Hey Pat......it is coming along but it is slow, but progress takes time and I'm working at it every day......Thanks for asking :notworthy:
Ya ain't old. What's all that white stuff. Looks like a lot of fun. Take care of those legs.
Well we got out again today with still no snow and mild temps. Almost 50 degrees and showers but still got in 3 hours in a target rich environment. A few arrows were broke but none lost. Just a great afternoon......
