Title: Thanksgiving again
Post by: twitchstick on November 29, 2015, 09:29:00 PM
My daughter had to work on Thanksgiving and missed the big dinner with all the family so we had planned a Sunday dinner for her. Well life and work got busy and I didn't get the bird pulled out in time to thaw yesterday. I had planned on going turkey hunting this morning so when I left I told my wife I would bring back a fresh one. She rolled her eyes like yea right!

Sorry had to finish up dinner. My morning didn't start off the greatest. I started off hunting where I had help a friend kill his first bird last week. Didn't see any fresh sign other than a few monster muley's bucks chasing does. I went into a area that I got my bird last year. I hadn't been seeing many birds in there this year so I wasn't too hopeful. I went to do a quick check to see if any birds had been using the area. The plan was to do a quick check to for tracks and go try to jump some ducks. My partner stayed at the truck while I did a the check for tracks. To my surprise I seen three turkeys feeding in a old dry pond under some Russian olive trees. They were feeding in a direction that I new right where they were headed. I gave a quick sprint to cut them off. One came out right were I thought. As soon as it when behind a big sage brush bush I drew and the arrow went right where I was looking. The bird went down right away. My hunting partner was a little surprised to see me coming back with a birds 10 minutes after leaving!

No need to ask how old you are Hot Hap with that quote. Doubt if many on this site have any idea who he is, or was. Anyway, congrats on a great looking bird. Hope it wasn't too tough.          My goal this year is to take an Eastern with my bow.
