This buck and I go way back, some on here have seen picks already and have watched him grow up most don't. He was born with and we know now a severely dislocated right knee, but don't think it ever slowed him down. He ran around on that leg till his last day in the woods fighting, breeding and chasing does so well at times it was hard to tell it was him. Here was are first meeting at Two as a baby faced kid already spunky, running around looking for girls checking scrapes.
(http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac248/TmPotter47/c43.jpg) (http://s904.photobucket.com/user/TmPotter47/media/c43.jpg.html)
You can see his knee, sorry I have great video's to but been fighting for hours to get them on here. At three he grew pretty good still no browtines but looking good!
(http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac248/TmPotter47/AB296432-72CF-4189-8865-387D55567483_zpsqgoh4he4.jpg) (http://s904.photobucket.com/user/TmPotter47/media/AB296432-72CF-4189-8865-387D55567483_zpsqgoh4he4.jpg.html)
Year four he gained some weight and rack size but still no brows. This year was my least amount of picks of him but we had several huge bucks running around and I think he was playing it safe.
(http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac248/TmPotter47/x9-2.jpg) (http://s904.photobucket.com/user/TmPotter47/media/x9-2.jpg.html)
At five he started feeling his oats a lot more, I was catching him on all are cameras, seeing him chasing does like a real buck and fighting. Plus he finally grew his first set of browtines I wasent sure if he ever would because of his injury but he proved that wrong.

Congratulations on a very fine animal!
I'm slow on the computer but I have pictures from every year up till I got him. He was just starting to go down some on his rack but I will post the picks and from seven on his body was crazy big!
This buck dressed out at almost 250#

This is next to my brothers 5 year old mid 150's 10pt buck for comparison and I have picks of the scale.

Tracy
That is a cool history. Congrats on a great buck
What a bruiser
I wondered when you were going to post him! Great job Tracy, so cool because you had shown me pictures of him in years past and we talked about him often.
congrats! great story
Congratulations on the hawg Tracy...way to go!
Thats a bruiser. Congrats!
Incredible! Congratulations to you sir.
Great buck, congrats!
At six we started hunting him, are area is full of bow hunters and rifle hunters all around him but he was a smart old buck and gave us all the slip for a long time.
(http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac248/TmPotter47/null_zps3bab7b6e.jpg) (http://s904.photobucket.com/user/TmPotter47/media/null_zps3bab7b6e.jpg.html)
At seven his rack started changing, different shape extra stickers longer beams. He became a stud and took over the area and kept it against bigger racked bucks but none could match his weight or will.
(http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac248/TmPotter47/null_zps7241eb9a.jpg) (http://s904.photobucket.com/user/TmPotter47/media/null_zps7241eb9a.jpg.html)
At eight he still was growing points on his rack but I don't think you could put any more weight on him.

2x. Very special deer.
Incredible story Tracy! My congrats buddy.... :clapper:
My son and I haven't had much time to hunt this year or put out any cams for fun. The area were we have most of the picks they are building a new house and cleared everything out timber and all. We had to take down stands and blinds right after turkey season, we have hunted this place for 22yrs and know just about every inch of it though.
We have stands up on benches on the ridges around the place and figured that's were the deer would change there patterns to anyway. That's were my short hunt would begin!
I got in the 10ft stand at 2:55pm gosh I missed this ridge and bench so I took a quick pick.
(http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac248/TmPotter47/Boone%20and%20Crocket%20sheds/treestand2.jpg) (http://s904.photobucket.com/user/TmPotter47/media/Boone%20and%20Crocket%20sheds/treestand2.jpg.html)
20 min later doe runs by stops by me, I'm looking at her to see if her glands are wet and crash up over the edge out of the valley comes a huge buck looking for. I knew she was being chased and ready, finally got him to stop at 16yds broadside and made a complete pass thru shot. As soon as he was running off that's when I seen it was "Crazy Legs"
When you see a deer that size coming you know your going to shoot I never even looked to see which buck it was. Fourth hunt of the year first hunt on that ridge this season it was a good day.
I only ever had one other shot at him and I blew it two years before I snort wheezed him in and man he came in fast. I knew then that if I or anybody else got him he needed to be weighed that body was unreal. So I bought a scale just in case.

Tracy
Just awesome buddy!
 :scared:
Awesome story and deer Tracy.
I love it when they have a known history!
I knew 3 other bow hunters around that property that had picks of him. One of the spots gets rifle hunted hard, I found his bedding area mushroom and shed hunting on the next propert over and a couple sheds but never went back didn't want to push him out going in there every year.
(http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac248/TmPotter47/t9.jpg) (http://s904.photobucket.com/user/TmPotter47/media/t9.jpg.html)
He lived in that hole only coming out in the dark or in the rut from what we could tell every year. Even though it sounds like I had him patterned I think it was the other way around and the most daytime sightings were always midday during the rut.
I was not hunting him specifically just got to know him after so many years. I saved everything from him including that knee joint and will do a niice display around his mount.
Thanks for looking at old "Crazy Legs" :bigsmyl:
Tracy
The best hunting story I've ever heard. Very rare to have such a long history with one deer. Proud of you Tracy!

What a buck! You are a blessed man to be a to have that kind of history with an animal...and I'm sure that all that hard work it took to get him is the best part! Thanks for sharing.
What a trophy and with all the history behind it makes it sooo fantastic. Congratulations!
Very cool! Congrats!
That's an awesome story, and an awesome deer. Congrats!

Good stuff! Thanks for sharing
Great story and an awesome buck......

Congratulations and nice pictorial on his growth. Way cool.
That kill would definitely have a bitter sweet kind of feeling. After having a history with him for all those years you probably had a soft spot in ya for that old brute. Congrats man, awesome deer!
That's sweet. I shot my best buck after a four year hunt for him. Back then we had no cameras...just tracks and scrapes and rubs and every once in a while an apple tree helped in making venison. The buck in my avatar was the one I'm speaking of. Never saw him til I shot him. I know the feeling and am happy for you.
I've been following this thread from the beginning and every time I go to post I'm speechless. I can only imagine the trials old crazy legs went through during his life. A true warrior no doubt. You have honored him well in this thread. Hopefully you'll share what you come up with for his final resting memorial... Well done!
Really neat stuff........
Great buck, great history, and great job telling us all about it, Tracy!
Couldn't have happened to a better fellar..
Congrats Tracy...
Glad you got the story and pictures up here Tracy.
And congratulations again Amigo. A great story indeed and well told.
Very cool, heck of a buck!
Beautiful Animal, Congratulations!!
Thank you Tracy, thank you for sharing this buck with us. I know it feels like you lost a friend and that when you are glassing it will be for CrazyLegs even though you know where he is. Sometimes when we have a relationship with a deer like that the kill is anticlimactic. The journey WAS the destination. You deserve him my friend. Long live Crazy Legs!
Love this story. How amazing is it to have that kind of history with a buck.
One of the best story's
about a special deer that I have read in a while.
Congratulations on a "Legendary Whitetail".
Really bitter sweet. Sad actually. Im glad u got him. Great thread.
I forward to your posts every year about this time. Thanks for sharing your buck with us!! That is wonderful!! Happy for you!!

Fine Buck Tracy!! congrats.RC
Congratulations on such a fine animal. This is one of the coolest stories I've read here on the Gang!
Thanks guys! Just set down been helping butcher another good buck for a friend all day.
I sure appreciate all the nice comments and will I miss him you bet, sad not really he has passed on some great genes to a lot of does for a lot of years. His size and mass which is hard to tell in the picks because of that body is always welcome. I'm not sure who his dad was but we've taken some great deer out of there for years and he has done nothing to hurt are breeding stock that's for sure.
His name will not go away for a long time and I will be reminded by him when I find a spot to display him with some of his blood brothers from the same woods

Thanks for sharing that story! Great buck - glad his genetics are out there and one of his descendants may get to rule that part of the world the way he did - and give those who hunt them a thrill!
What a great deer
What a great deer
Great story, I really enjoyed this one, thanks for sharing. Congrats on a great old warrior! He dwarfs that deer cart
What a giant, super story.
Great memories on this one!
Re-read this 10 times. It gets better every time!!!!!
Thanks guys, There was a couple bucks that I remember around the time he was born that he could of been one of there offspring. We had a monster of a buck running that ridge and area that had a body just as big years ago we named "Toad" his behavor was a lot like him to.
He only came out during the rut, you could see that body a mile a way and the rack was thick but not overly big. He would wear all the hair off his shoulders and clear to his mid back every year and you could spot that white skin and know it was him. I came oh so close so many times like Crazy but he was always chasing something and never standing still.
We didn't have any cams till ten years ago and the first ones were terrible, only got a few picks of him but they were blurry! So it could have been him, Maybe this guy I took this buck 10yrs ago with a 8yd shot off the same ridge he was 6/7 and Crazy's main beams looked similar shape the last 3 years.

Who knows but I know we're lucky and very grateful to hunt were we do and it's fun to try and figure out who's genes were passed down and there off spring. My sons took there first deer off this place and my grandsons are sitting in blinds and checking cams with us now. Hopefully they will get there first from there too :goldtooth:
Thanks again!!
Tracy
This tale gets better every page Tracy. The backstory and pictures are great!

Looks like a 2yr old and I'm going to call him Junior! Can't wait to see him in person and watch him grow up. I've been staying out of the area until Guru gets down here in November to hunt.
Good luck this year to everybody!
Tracy

Man!! All you guys in states make me jealous. I'm lucky to see a deer in two weekends of hunting let alone get two big bucks!!
Just finished page two....really special buck there....he went out in Honor.
Are you going to mount him or do something special in his honor?
That's a great story! Congratulations he had plenty of time to spread out his jeans.
