I'm getting ready to place an order for a CXR with static tips, but I'm having difficulty making up my mind on colors. I've had my eye on one for a long time so its time to pull the trigger. So what have ye?
Thanks in advance!
Not a CXR, but his is an LX. They are basically the same riser, but the LX is a couple inches longer. The woods in this one are cocobolo and osage. The osage has since aged and is now a beautiful deep golden color.

And here is an XR riser in all bocote that I foolishly let go off. Been watching for it to resurface again someday - would love to have this one back!

The XR riser I have does not show up well at all in pictures but I doubt you would find the same woods today anyway...it is wenge with a bloodwood crescent and bocote overlay...it is a very nice looking bow in hand if you like dark wood...the limb veneers are the nicest bocote I have ever seen...truth is beauty is in the eye of the beholder...Mike Vines traded me that bow because he did not like how it looked...the other thing you might want to consider, if the new owners still offer it, is the CLXR option...my bow is actually an LXR

I've had my eye on ordering one as well. Seems like it would be a great little bow. Hopefully some more pics surface.
Whip, were your bows built by Kevin or Chester and Ike?
Mine were both built by Kevin, although I've seen Chester and Ike'S bows as well and the craftsmanship is excellent.
I have a XR with extra longbow limbs. Kevin made them.
Those guys, Kevin and Sue, I know them and they are wonderful folks.
But I had issues ( OK, be nice) with shooting right handed. My TP got worse and worse and I finally said enough, after missing an elk and a doe, both at realistic ranges.
I called Kevin mid season and asked if he had any used left handed bows around that I could try out (I had shot lefty before, so it was not BRAND new, but it was a real trial even so) with the prospect of getting in line for one of his builds.
Sue packed my up an XR recurve, brand spanking new, and sent it to me to use for the season to see how I like their bows. When I got it, I couldn't believe how beautiful it was, bocote and a dark wood in front, with bocote lams showing in the limbs. I wouldn't even use it for a week cause it was too pretty.
Well, I ended up buying that bow from them and it remains my go to bow now that I am officially left handed !

Thst. Bacote is just downright pretty....
Great bow
I have an XR zircote black limba limbs and an all bocote XR
I've shot the CXR fantastic bow. RERs are the easiest to quiet recurve I've owned
As Joe said the new guys haven't missed a beat great quality
Search for RER and you'll find pics
Note do the hour glass stripes if you do a riser all same woods.
Lrt us know what you pick.
Would love to see pics of your bows,Gator. Looking at ordering an XR myself and trying to decide on woods.
here's the thread with mine.

Doesn't do it justice, but here is a pic of mine.

My LX looks almost like ChuckC is mine has a strip running down the riser. Love the bow even though I have experienced some cosmetic glass streaks developing in my riser.
Thanks for the pics and info fellas.
