On 11/14/15 I finally met a big goal of mine,I killed my Biggest buck with any type of weapon. I went into a new area I've never been to that morning and set up in the dark based on maps I've looked at. I ended up shooting a doe around 8am at 18 yards with a heart shot! She made it only 45 yards from my tree before going down. I took care of her and moved my stand mid day and climbed back up, I hunted from daylight to dark and packed food in. I didn't see anything until a half hour till dark when I saw a big 10pt! I took a shot but hit a tree and was not happy at all. He walked off and I was just ready to take my stand down and get out of there. I heard deer down in a bottom to my left so I decided I better stay in stand till dark since I only had about 15 minutes left. Right before dark I heard the crunching of leaves again but they were getting closer! Finally I could see a buck behind me walking at 40 yards so I looked at him through my binos and instantly knew I was shooting if I got the chance.
I came to anchor and grunted to stop him but he was on a mission and kept walking so I grunted louder. He stopped and I burned a hole in him and all of a sudden I saw my lighted nock on the way. It sounded like I hit a big pumpkin and he took off. I shot this buck at 37 yards and knew i got a complete pass through because of my lighted nock. Hit the front of the liver were all the arteries go into it. He went 30 yards from were I shot him and bedded down immediately, got up and bedded down again. I watched him till I couldn't see his rack anymore and he got up one more time and bedded again in that short amount of time. I slipped out as quietly as I could without checking my arrow because he was within 30 yards of it! I went back in the next morning and he never left the last spot!!!! My goal was a 3 year old or older with my recurve for a while now and I can finally say I did it!

These are the only pictures I could get to load on to my photobucket for some reason.
I shot him with my Schafer Silvertip recurve that's 60" and 62 pounds. I used a 620 grain arrow with a 310 grain Gizzly Kodiak single bevel. This is my first year using a single bevel head and so far on the 2 deer I've killed with them I'm very happy with them!
That is a beautiful buck!

From "JAWS" The taxidery man is gonna have a heart attack. Wow what a stud. Congrats....
Thanks guys for the kind words! I put a lot of hours scouting on foot and looking at maps every year trying to find new and better places to set my run and gun setups. I've hunted more than most guys I know and I have a 2 month old son at home, luckily my wife knows how much I love bowhunting and doesn't fuss to much about it. Bowhunting and archery are my only hobbies really and that's why my son is named after the great Paul Schafer! After reading everything I could find on him the last few years I ended up naming my son Schafer Miles Glassburn. Some of the stuff he accomplished is unreal and he sounded like a legend in my mind so why not name my son after him, just wish I could have shared camp with him, I'm hoping one day my boy can share a lot of time in the woods with me carrying a recurve or longbow. Thanks again and I'm going to have fun trying to do it again next season!
Thats a buck of a lifetime brother! Congrats!!
Wow!!! Congrats on a TOad!!!
Dude!!!!

Nice deer!
How was the blood trails on those 2 deer?
Monster buck, congrats.
The blood trails were pretty good on both deer even though they were both short. I use to shoot simmons safari's and had great luck with them but just wanted to try a single bevel.
Oh Yeah! That's a nice deer.
Man some Giant's are fallin this year! Congrats
What a beautiful buck!
Wow what gnarly old dude, congrats!
wow fantastic deer. but what is even more amazing is your 37 yard pass through shot ! that is in compound territory i am very impressed. Myself I am a twenty and under guy preferably under . What type of cover were you in for shot field, hardwoods , food plot? Cogradulationson a incredible season .
Awesome animal!
I was in hardwoods, the next morning when we went to find him I got to my arrow stuck in the ground and I ranged my tree that my stand was in. It was 37 yards from the path he was on to my stand according to my rangefinder. I don't carry a rangefinder while I hunt but wanted to know the shot distance so take it in the next day. Thanks for all the compliments guys, I really appreciate it!
Incredible deer!
My goodness!! What an awesome deer. Thanks for sharing. I'll check back to see if you get an more pictures loaded.
The buck ended up grossing 161 4/8" and field dressed 225lbs. Should be getting him back from the taxidermist around March or April!
That is a beautiful buck!
Thanks! I picked up a sweet piece of driftwood for a pedestal mount for this buck while I was hunting hog's in Georgia last week, can't wait to see how it turns out!
Awesome buck!!!
Congrats on a trophy of a lifetime... Talk about a roller coaster ride.... Thanks for sharing with us.
Wow, congrats!
Congrats brother on a beautiful animal!
Where did you hunt hogs in GA?
It was down around Savannah, I was on a PBS hunt.
I talked to the taxidermist a couple days ago and should have this buck back in 2-3 weeks!!!
Can't wait to see it
Holy smokes dude, congrats. Beautiful rack on that one.
