went to have a sit in my tree stand that overlooks a fallow deer trail this afternoon and on the walk in i passed a series of large granite boulders and saw movement at the base of one of them. my first thoughts were that it was a snake or lizard since i saw grass movement more than anything else. it turned out to be a fox pup retreating to it's den. by the time i had an arrow nocked it had come out for a second look and it's brother or sister was with it.
one came right out to about two paces then ducked back to the entrance with the other. the arrow was gone and a clean kill was made at 6 paces.
a bad thunderstorm was about to hit so i changed out an old rope at the tree stand and got out of there before the lightning and wind got too bad.
i didn't get to have a sit in the stand but it was a fine afternoon in the bush none the less.
this used to be my fathers and it's the bow i first started hunting with. it is the first kill for this old bow, since i had it rebuilt after the bottom limb delaminated off the fade out. fellow tradganger JamesV put new limbs on it for me and did a great job. :notworthy:
i believe it is an old martin mamba. originally it never had any brand markings so i'm not sure if it was a nock off or what. the martin mamba is the closest resemblance. it now has bamboo cores and black glass. i call it 'bamba', the bamboo mamba.

1st kill for a bow reborn and 1st archery fox after many years of frustration and bad luck.

yep and by doing so saved the lives of 100's of native marsupials, lizards, frogs, birds and maybe valuable livestock like poultry and lambs.
foxes are not native here in australia and as such wreak havoc on our native fauna that evolved without such predators.
actually killing a pup is better since they haven't killed any yet.
it would be like you having a feral animal that killed lots of native animals like deer and turkeys etc.

Great shot and don't feel you have to justify what you kill, we all have to make our own decisions.
What's next? Kittens? There introduced here in the US also. Feral cats are everywhere here. And yes kittens. Stuff like this is why I left tradgang before. I was taught eat what u kill. Not kill something for the fun. I realize I will probably be black listed for this comment. And I can live with that. Are dingoes not predators? Do they not eat the same things. Foxes are introduced in the us as well. Ppl tell me of a time when hunters respected there game and it wasn't for the fun. Times change I guess. I do apologies for my seeming lack of respect for the individual.but that kit is probably 8wks old. Just some things really get me.

shawn, your entitled to your opinion but i respectfully say that it's based on a lack of understanding of australia's feral animal problem.
i don't know anyone who would allow a young cockroach to live to reproductive age before killing it. an environmental pest is an environmental pest regardless of age or 'cute and cuddly factor'
using your logic US bowfisher's should not shoot juvenile carp.
foxes and cats may well be introduced in the USA but they have to compete against the host of native predators that you have. ours don't.
i haven't seen many red fox pictures or even discussions about them on here from the US which suggests there isn't a huge population. there are tens of thousand's of them here.
different places, different ecological problems, different management, different opinions on what's acceptable.
