Thanks,I will see if i can get ahold of him.

They are easy to do if you have a drill press! But watch the dust!!!!!
-
Great Northern feather grinder is a fun tool. I love mine and it does a great job. You do need a bench grinder.
-
What habujohn said!

bench grinder or drill press....I also use the GN feather jig but on a drill press works well.
mine however is cocked funny (older drill press). So I had to add a few shims to straighten the quills out, not a big deal in the grand scheme...they come out great!
I also built a Dean torges jig, and it works well as well *and is much cheaper LOL*, but you'll still need the drum with a spacing disc on the bottom, or learn to free hand.
I have a pile of feathers to get done this winter!!!!

Drill press is needed with the great northern tool not a grinder. Sorry about that.

There was a predecessor to Magnus on here who contracted some bizarre ailment from enhaling feather grinding dust... damanged nerves in brain and now is struggling something fierce to hold onto anything resembling normal life!
Wear a respirator if you grind...PLEASE...too much that both man and medicine just doesn't know to take risks when one of our own self -reported that he has succumbed to something bizarre!
-
Simple to add a shop vac and dust shroud to the dp table. Works very well. I also wear a respirator just to be safe as well.
-
Yep be safe and use a respiratory and if you are like me and like to keep the shop clean, use a shop vac.
