With the rut some of us are having long sits in the stand....so what's your favorite stand snacks?
I like some of the softer granola bars...and raisins and almonds and pecan halves.....
How bout you?
PBJ sandwich fills me up good along with trailmix and lil candybars.
KIND bars .....loaded with good stuff to hold you over.
Deer jerky, yogurt/granola bars, raisins, apple slices.
A thermos with hot Tomato Bisque soup is the ticket on these cold November Days
I've been eating Clif bars. They hold me over pretty well. Especially when I spread natural peanut butter on 'em.
Also, left over pancakes are really good. I slice a banana on them after spreading on some natural peanut butter. Add a couple slices of bacon and fold them in half. Good way to use up leftovers from breakfast, if there are any. :coffee:
Cliff bars or trail mix with M&Ms included
Jerky, nuts, and apple are favorites,
:coffee: but "ronp" had a great idea with the pancake sandwich.
Pb&j works for me but the idea of hot tomado soup sounds good.
PB&J sandwich, peanuts mixed with plain M&Ms and a thermos of hot coffee. My brother does the left over pancake trick, he uses strawberry jam and rolls them up.
"Moose goo tortilla's" for me, along with small candy bars.
Recipe for Moose goo tortilla
flour tortilla, with peanut butter, honey and granola wrapped inside!

PBJ, apple, or venison jerky
Moose goo is great! I take it on extended backpacking trips- Super high energy.
Snickers bars as even higher in energy for you the cliff or power bars.
Other backpacking high fat foods are summer sausage and hard cheeses. High calories high fat.
Vienna Sausages, Beanie Winnies, Sardines, Slim Jims, and a teaspoon of bourbon for the throat hack.
Peanut butter and cheese samiches. Good, good and deer can't resist peanut butter.
Clif bar and apples for me.
I like Snickers. :)
All types of KIND bars, Justin's peanut butter is perfect. Comes in little white squeeze packs perfect for a pocket or backpack and all natural. Also like venison jerky, nuts and bottled water
Key is something high in protein and energy but not heavy or too filling.
Fig newtons
Peanut butter n apple butter samich on whole grain bread, cliff bars, trail mix. Anything g high in fat n protein.
All the stuff that has been said above. On a long sit I bring the works, sandwich, chips, cookies, apple, banana, and a thermos of coffee, plus some snacks.
Oh Ron you crack me up with that last part of your sentence "plus some snacks" :biglaugh:
A banana and a CHUNKY bar.....Doesn't get any better than that !Maybe a PB&J once in a while..

Been carrying Snickers bars in my day pack for 35 years of deer hunting. When the deer's down I unwrap and eat the bar (shaving a bit on the deer and giving thanks) and calm my nerves before the dressing out. Then I have an added energy boost for the drag out.
But for lunch - PB&J and an apple.

Been using flour tortillas instead of bread it holds up better than bread in the pack and making little wraps pb&j or peanut butter and banana. Turkey and Swiss cheese are my daughters favorite. Il also take some salty sweet granola bars.
COOKIES!!!!!
Blueberry Cliff Bar
Hey Ron P, I hunted with a guy named "Skinny Joe" years ago. He was thin. He would bring an old Boy Scout type canvas backpack with a frame and carry the following for a day hunt - No less the 5 sandwiches filed in a tupperware container, A quart thermos of tea, a quart thermos of soup and an entire Entenmann's cake in the box and a flask of White Russian. We would also stop for breakfast at a dinner on the way to our hunting location. Every weekend he left the woods with no food asking if anyone had anything left to eat for the ride home. True story!
PBJ, protein bars, apples (Mac preferred), almond/craisins mix...yum!
It's just not hunting without a couple of small Snickers bars in my pack.
x whatever we are up to now on the snicker bars.
Dried bananas are my favorite. Maybe not for everyone.
Used to take freshly baked potatoes triple wrapped in foil. Kept hands warm and tasted so good
Every year I make a big bag of mix with m&m's,honey roasted peanuts, raisens.and sunflower seeds. It's my staple for an all day hunt and it gets you through the day and through the season. And always coffee.
I like a PB&J sandwich. I also grab some fruit snacks, cheese and crackers and a Clif bar and a bottle of water.
But, I made some almond bark. I melted some 75% cocoa dark chocolate (heart healthy) with some mesquite smoked almonds, dried cranberries and sunflower seeds. Laid it all out on some wax paper and put it in the fridge. Now I have some healthy almond bark. Just grab a chunk and throw it in your mouth, mmm....

cheetos are great for everything!! haven't you seen the commercials?
No time for eating in a deer stand...this was a test and you all failed. Haha

But we weren't hungry when we failed!
That almond bark that That J. Holden made sounds great. I'm gonna try that, thanks for sharing that recipe.
Just whipped up a batch of moose goo to bring out tomorrow. Don't know if I'm more excited about eating it or hunting tomorrow.
moose goo??
4 parts honey
4 parts corn starch
2 parts peanut butter
Roll it in a tortilla
Super high energy backpacking meal. The corn starch thickens the peanut butter and honey to a dough like consisance. Best if you donot refrigerate. You can leave it out for a week or so.

Banana!
Sounds good Pete!
Y'all sure do bring some noisy snacks :) . I make a big bag of trail mix and take a couple handfuls per day and make sure there is some chocolate coated coffee beans to fuel my addiction. A couple every bars just in case and an apple. If I'm hiking there'll be some dried pita bread and a can of sardines packed in oil for the extra calories. If I'm hiking I like lots of calories but just sitting doesn't burn many so I cut back a lot.
If I'm going to be out all day a I also bring along a can of smoked oysters. Lots of protein and they don't take up much room.
