Anyone else?
November 7th, frost this morning, high of 50 today, NW wind after a cold front moved through, perfect out, hardly anything moving
I was just sure that things would kick off this weekend :dunno:
I've been seeing all kinds of bucks around my place, yesterday and today. I kind of wish bow season was not over for me.
Now I'm still going to my tree stands, but hunting squirrels.
Not a whole lot going on at all, saw a couple small bucks chasing last night & one decent buck with a couple does tonight. Other than that nothing!
I didn't have much for movement either. Also, no evidence of rut activity either. I guess we just keep at it - it will break open eventually.
I just returned from South Central Iowa. November 6th was unreal, 22 different bucks by the end of the day. The 3.5 and 4.5 yr olds were running the show chasing a sticking with the does. November 7th, hardly any activity all day in that same stand which is prime with a NW wind. I think it's close to blowing up. Good luck to all, great place to hunt whitetails!!
You guys too? And in the whitetail capitol of the US? I don't feel so bad now. Nothing, at least from what I've seen, here in NJ. In the 30s this morning so hoping it'll ramp up for the next few days.
I had one very large non-typical that I was keeping tabs on before season. he moved into a smaller wma for a period and an army of young 'trophy hunters' moved in. He has since moved on, but while still hunting to see where we could hunt without some newcomers telling us that we cannot hunt near their tree stands claim stake, I shot an eight pointer. Now I am guide/turkey hunter/pheasant hunter with my bow. My wife refuses to hunt where she is anywhere near a tree stand. I tell her that some guys put up six or more and will more than likely not show up, but she figures if she is there, they will. Tree stands do not give one access control rights on Iowa public land, it is a first come first serve basis.
Good luck to all you guys up there. I know there are some brutes up that way!

I had a good buck respond to rattling this morning, but he hung up at 40 yards, seemed intimidated by my decoy. Saw 6 does, and no bucks following them. It's still not on in force yet in my neck of the woods.
It's picking up in Nebraska. I saw 2 bucks that seemed to be cruising yesterday. A buddy shot a nice buck today who was enroute to a younger buck nearby. I'll be out tomorrow. We will see what happens.
I hunted Fri,Sat,Sunday. I saw many unattended does and lots of small bucks cruising. The larger bucks were working scrape lines and rubbing Sat and Sunday. I think its about to break wide open this week.
I drove from central Iowa to northeast Iowa on the 6th to go trout fishing. We saw 5 bucks over 130 inches and many smaller bucks and does on the drive there and back. I hunted the 7th and saw 3 bucks that were grunting and checking does. I was able to get one the bucks. 3 of my friends also shot bucks on the 7th. The hunting should get pretty good after this storm and wind gets past us.
I decided to stay in today anticipating the storm. Lots of tornado warnings across the state, hope everyone got out of the woods ok.
Slow here for me here in Ohio..been 2 weeks since I last seen a deer.
