Shot this guy yesterday at 5:45 hit him a lil back. Left him lay over night he was dead in the spot where I last saw him this morning.

Spike's are good eating!
It may be variances in dialect, but "burned a tag" seems like a disparagement. Congratulations on a traditional deer kill.
Spike or a booner......it's all good. Them lil' ones eat well.
Hey! That young stuff is excellent eating bro.
When opportunity knocks, drop the string. Waiting for the monster buck is fine. But if your shot opportunities are few and far between like mine are, you don't pass on fresh venison over lack of horn size, or you end up eating track soup.
I told myself that I was going to hold out for the big non-typical that was around, but then I was getting run over by every newbie kid that has seen too many tv shows. I shot a smaller 8 pointer instead and I am now wishing that I could go out and shoot a couple of yearling does. No doe tags here this year. Every meal from a young deer is a celebration in a way.
Thats a heckava hole! Congrats!
Any backstrap is good backstrap in my book and those should be good and tender. Congrats!

A trad harvest is a trad harvest!

Congrats!
Congrats on your spike. I'd much rather have a couple young 100#ers in the freezer for table fare, then, be a little more selective what I shoot.

fire up the BBQ
Looks like something ate his eye and started to chow down on his side too?
When I see a pic of huge buck kill first thing I want to know is how much of a challenge was that for the hunter. What weapon was used and where was it taken. When I see someone with a trad bow and any deer taken on public land that to me is a much bigger trophy than a big buck taken with any other weapon or one taken on private prop.
