Could someone tell me what the spine is for a 2016 aluminum arrow? I'm shooting a 55# selfbow at my 28 1/2" draw length. The bow is black locust and has just slightly flipped tips. I've changed my shooting style a bit and have shortened my drawlength from 30". All my arrows are cut to 31" to match my previous drawlength. I'm shooting 175 gr. points. At first the 31" arrows seemed to shoot fine. But I've noticed a little fish-tailing and a bit of nock right when the arrows hit. The bow is cut to within about 1/4" of center. Should these arrows shoot better at 29 1/2" or at 31"? It may be my release or part of my so-so form, but I'd like your opinions. And please, I've already been chastized for the sacrilege of shooting aluminum arrows out of a selfbow! LOL..... Thanks in advance.

A 2016 spines about 61#. Even though your arrows are long, I'm guessing they are a bit stiff for your selfbow. If you can find a spare 1916 laying around it would be a good arrow to try.
Thanks. I tried 1916's when I started out and they flew all over the place. The were whipping back and forth and appeared to be under spined. I'll check them again and see what happens.

That 175gr point is adding 3 spine ranges and with that 31" arrow you're adding another 3 spine ranges. Total of six equals minus 30 pounds of spine. Try one arrow 29 1/2" long with a 125gr point and adjust from there........if possible.-ART B
