Title: Schafer Sivertip
Post by: Keith Zimmerman on October 28, 2015, 03:55:00 PM
I got my new Silvertip on Monday.  Here are the specs:

14in riser with his longest limb making a 58" bow.  Its 54@28.  When Dave and I planned this last June 2014 he said he has never done a bow with that combo and said "that would be a Rocket."  Hence the name, The Rocket.  So the stage was set.  I told Danny about it.  So he jumped on the order too.  So I have 1 and he has 2.

Macasser Riser with BW Ebony crescents.  Checkered with Daves finest checkering, leaf carving, and a Mastadon Ivory inlay.  I mailed Dave some Eland Horn since he said he never used that before.  Eland Horn up both sides of the riser.  Compass in the riser too.

Limbs are Exhibition Grade Walnut Burl on the face and Karelian Birch Burl on the belly of the limbs.  Limb cores are Bamboo.  Tips and overlays are Eland with BW Ebony underneath.  Limb wedges are BW Ebony too.

Beth has some limbs in stock with my veneers if you want to know what it looks like.  They were limbs Dave missed weight on.

I will let Danny post pics if he can.  Maybe of his bow again too since its a Rocket.

I want sure if you were still going with Rocket #3 or not Felix.  I know it was delayed a bit cuz you couldnt decide on wood choices.  What are you going with?  Still using the Eland like me and Danny?

Keith I dunno if it is still available, I really would like that Mastodont ivory. In the riser I went with Gabon matched with a Thuja burl Crescent.

They are great looking bows. Beauties to be exact. But personally I wouldn't have a compass put in that gorgeous riser. Kind of detracts from the looks. JMO. Best of luck with them.

I already said it but that double flare just looks amazing!!!  Look at those joints!!!!

And that Karelian Birch Burl veneer is wicked cool.
Title: Re: Schafer Sivertip
Post by: Keith Zimmerman on October 30, 2015, 11:22:00 AM
Thanks Joe.  I bought the veneers at Denton Hill last year.  They look like a cross between flames and bear tracks.

The double crescent option was my idea.  I asked Beth about it.  She went back in the shop to ask Dave and came back and said, "Dave said he can do anything" and laughed.  I sent a pic of one of my Bighorn risers as an idea and he took it from there.

So lots of first on our bows for Dave.  Eland Horn, the short riser/long limb combo, and the double crescent.

One thing for sure, I think if u come up with an idea, Dave and Beth can do it.  These bows are amazing works of art.  I use all my bows to hunt with.  Hard.

Almost gaudy but not quite. Id bet if anyone but Dave made a bow with so many customizations it would look too over the top. This looks classy and shows that Dave is the epitome of an artist.

Thanks guys.  The Rocket performs well.  I made a perfect 30 yd shot on a PA 5 point with the first arrow at an animal.  I cant believe how it performs.

I also shot a MD 6 point with my Silver Paws Silvertip on Thanksgiving morning.  Love those Tips.

Top of the line for sure. Incredible wood combos and the engraving adds a degree of class.  Congrats!
