My Nephew is getting into trad archery and I am building a bow for him. I was planning to build a quiver for him as well, but he asked for one that may be too much of a challenge for me as I have very limited leather working skills.
He would like a back quiver like the one carried by the ranger Aragorn from The Lord Of The Rings.
Does anyone here know where I can get a quiver like this at a reasonable price by Christmas?
I saw one on the auction site, but it was a cheap looking thing from China.
Dave.
Make one. They are pricey.

Aragorn? Or Legolas?
It's an interesting design, but in practice with your bow buckled to the quiver it appears one would have to take the quiver off to remove the bow. I like my Hill style back quiver, but prefer my bow to be in my hand.
They certainly are pricey! Thanks for the info.
He was specific about it, Aragorn's quiver.
I think he just likes the look. I can't see him walking a 3D course with his bow strapped like that.
Dave.
Just make a skinnier Hill style. Then put some small buckled belts on it. Surf the thrift shops.

Thanks!

Don't know what happened
If still looking I've seen one done browsing etsy.
I'm not the most skilled at everything but I try hard. Bud B's build along is great and made a few changes to suit me.
I will echo the Etsy.com site. Search "back quiver" and you will find many craftsmen with detailed, impressive looking work. And a wide range of prices. You may find one there at a reasonable price, that you can add to, in order to achieve the desired look. Could be less expensive than buying the rough materials, not to mention faster.
Not sure where you are with you build but I would consider buying a hill style back quiver from a sponsor her called Soapcreek. He makes a very nice back quiver for a very nice price.
Woodcarver, just follow Bud B's back quiver build along. Its pretty easy to follow, and add the buckles like he recommended. Im thinking about the same thing so I can carry a poncho or my jacket when it gets warmer later in the day. I think he recommended a 6oz leather, go with that as 8oz leather was pretty stiff at the top fold over. You should be able to make one for under $60, mine was under $35 because customers at the local tack shop dont like the distressed water buffalo leather, so I got a good deal on it.
