wow...what a score! :D
you guys make me mad- that have all the access to all those cool yard sales :)
Sweet...
,,Sam,,
daaannnnng! big time score.
It's not often that I come across any traditional archery gear here in Florida. But thanks to the northerns who come down and decide to off load their "junk", I was bale to find a few goodies.
These people were from Wisconsin and used to archery hunt a lot. Even had several Fred Bear stories of sharing some hunt camps with him.
He would not part with his Bear Kodiak.... :(
I take old arrows like that and strip the paint off. Inspect them good for cracks and if they are OK I put a few coats of wipe on poly on them and shoot them. Just be careful when you take the feathers off.
The hunting heads that are half plastic should unscrew.

Thanks for the tip!
The ones from Bear archery or at least say "Bear" on them will be for the trophy wall. The rest will be inspected and refinished as you have mentioned. I did notice a couple that have some cracks in the paint, but I'm not certain if it is in the wood. Either way I couldn't say no for $10...
He had another 1/2 dozen of finished and like new woodies with the bear heads for $40. I may go back this afternoon and barter... :)
I'm always hoping to come across such a find at a yard sell. Usually just a bunch of old yarn and junk like that
Great find
Under all that paint are some mighty fine cedar shafts.
You got a deal. Some body didn't know what they had.
I'd take t he Super Hilbre and put in a case!
I had a bunch of them starting out...once shot one into a rotten stump and it blew up...plastic ferrule!?!
The others are super. I have a few original BEAR arrows so marked with the Converta-point system and bear screw in razor heads in an old Bear wire spring quiver...somewhere...lol...or think it made the move...dunno for sure! LOL

Well Fujimo, with all them yard sales come people. Some are neighbors. Some are just people. I'm feeling a bit cramped these days.

Cool!
Bisch
you lucky son of a gun what a find! :clapper:
Cool!
My childhood friend, when we were in our teens had some of those "HIlbre" broad heads. He had them in a 2-piece Kwikee Kwiver - the ones without a hood. Put the very sharp point of one in his knee cap! Ouch
I feel very lucky indeed!
That HIlbre head is wicked looking and I've already put it and the arrow attached to it in a safe place. Just looking at it makes me want to bleed and I surely don't want to poke myself with it.
I went back for the other arrows but he sold them to another fellow archer. So I gave him my business card for any future trad gear he may stumble across.
I have a couple of boxes of arrows with old bear razor heads and some broadheads that I don't know what they are. I do have a couple of hilbre heads. I got them from my grandfather. Great find for you at the yard sale!
What a cool find.
Neat! This is a really good find.
Pick that fellow's brain and if possible, share his stories here
Congrats on the find and if you do see him again, please tell him hello for me from NC. A Fred Bear fan.

It's hard to really see but are a head or 2 Bubble Heads on the Bears BH? If so even better find.
Great find.
