Had a beautiful morning in Illinois Saturday. Dawn broke at about 35 degrees, clear and calm. Mama doe, a couple fawns and a yearling doe came in about 8:30. The old doe and the kids all get a pass from me, but the yearling is on my list. She picked up where I came in and started checking out the tree and area very close. She finally stopped on the trail between the trees in the pic. The shot was pretty hard quartered, but close and the 235 Grizzly Kodiak did its job. Entry was high and exited in front of the opposite shoulder. She went about 30 yards and I watched her fall. It doesn't get much better.

Congratulations Rick! Did you kill her on your land? In a tree or on the ground? Good job and enjoy!
Hi Jerry, I was hunting with Wayne M. in Saline Co. He put a stand in a group of ash trees near a huge fallen oak that works to funnel them past the stand.
Awesome!! Congrats!
Cool! Congrats!
Haven't seen Wayne in years. I trust he is doing well and I'm sure you boys had fun. Congrats again.

Congratulations! That's a perfect deer to take. The big does I've seen all have a little tyke close behind. Some really late fawns down here still nursing, all their spots, about the same size as the jack rabbits. A lot of fun to watch.
Again, well done! :coffee:
That is a good stand location with the 2 trees concealing you. I have always had better luck when in a stand with tree cover.
Congrats on the doe
Rick what spine did you use to allow you to shoot that 235gr head?
Congrats Rick, seems we both had a bit of luck Saturday.
Looks like some fine venison! Congrats!
