If you hunt from the ground do you use knee pads?If so what kind work for you to walk in and also kneel. I have tried several including military and none of them work for me.
No way. I must sit in a comfortable chair with a back. I used to use a dove stool with a back but now I use a Hunt More 360.
I use them. Can't tell you what name brand they are, but I bought them from a Farm & Fleet store, so I suppose people in the building trades use them. I weigh nearly 260#, and they are very comfortable.
I use a volleyball /sport type under my pants for mule deer.
I've been using mcdavid HEX knee pads. It's a nylon/synthetic blend with hexagon shaped foam cushions. I size up when purchasing. I leave them around my shins when walking and only pull them up when crawling to prey. The image shows myself with shorts, but they're just as easy to pull up when they're under pants. For me, it's a must for stalking axis deer.

I've used them. The pants I bought came with them and a zip pocket to take them out as needed. Core4element I think my sitkas came with them too. The traverse.,?? I can't remember.
I use a cheap pair from one of the big home improvement stores, $7.00 a pair. They work fine. One Velcro strap behind the knee. Super light. I camo'd them up.
All the time. I think they're AWP from Lowes. Hard foam with a nice buckle for cheap. I hate wet knees. Can't believe more people don't use them.
Dennis Kamstra in his Tips from the Old Timer column in TradBow mag recommends them and he has a lot of good ideas. This sounds like one of them.
Finding a comfortable pair is the key, I'd think. I haven't yet, but prefer the under the pants idea above.
I use them when hunting in Texas but not really anywhere else. I have experienced cactus knee before and it wasn't fun. Jeff Massie was outfitting one hunt, was watching me put the sneak on some javelinas down a sendaro. While on all fours, I knelt on a prickly pear leaf and my knee jerked up and back and I held that pose for a minute, feeling not so perfect.
Jeff, I was told, calmly looked at my buddy ( also watching) and asked him if I was on point.

when still hunting, i have use'd the behind the knee pads like a baseball catcher wears, kind of a wedge shape.
a little awkward but you can squat down on your haunches and lean against a tree for a good bit of time before getting uncomfortable, then usually i'll drop to my knees, or sit on a stump or something.
My new pants have a padded knee, they were nice to have elk hunting.
A guy I know wears a pair of khaki carpet layers pants that come with knee pad pockets on each knee. He slips them in as needed...swears by them
If I wore knee pads, my friends would look at me funny...
No, I don't do spot and stalk, so they are not needed from any of my stands. In my brush blind, I sit on a chair with back support.
Do like I do. I just use skate board knee pads and add a layer of carpet pad under them. Very soft and you can kneel on anything without pain. I crawl around on them all day at work.
