Title: Ground Blind for 68"
Post by: RaybowTx on October 13, 2015, 08:14:00 AM
I'm sure this question is here somewhere,  but I'm asking anyway.   What ground blind is out there that is comfortable to shoot a 68" longbow out of?  The last blind I had that I could is one I built out of plywood.   It was nice but takes a truck to move.  I dont hunt that kind of place anymore.  So anyhow, short of taking my longbow to Abelas I'm looking for something.  Thanx Yall......Ray

I have an original dbl bull multi-vision and if I'm kneeling inside I had no problem with 68 straight up or canting as much as I wanted,,,, a big blind though but one of the best buys I made.

This may not be the direction you were heading but for me I have found brush blinds to work the best. A pair of prunning shears and a stool allows me to build a blind large enough to lay my 68" bow across my lap. At this point I have several built around my favorite spots. Last night I had 5 turkeys walk about 15-20 feet behind me clucking away, never knew I was there.

I've thought about, no matter what pop blind I get I could extend the legs say 4-5" and wrap camp cloth around the gap??

If you go this route, you really have to make sure you get a blind with low windows. If not, by the time you raise it up, the windows get to be too high to shoot thru.

Just looked at your profile! What's up, Ray?? if you are using this on a place where you can leave it up, I can show you how to build one that is pretty cheap and works awesome! These are made from cattle panels and are not nearly as hard to move as a box blind.

Check out Barronette Blinds. They're about the tallest ones available. I believe the Big Mike XT is 80 or 84" tall.

I'm with Bisch.  Cattle panels make a great blind for cheap.

I'll check those out.  Bisch I've thought about that before but never went forward on anything.

Back in the mid ninety's a friend put me in his double bull.  Man I couldn't believe how that worked.  It was awsome because im the fidgety type. I've almost said goodbye to trees......Ray

Ameristep has one out now called the "Man Cave" that is 84" tall and has a 90" footprint. I think Academy has them for $249 right now. I have not set in one, but ifit is 7' tall it should work also.

Ameristep also makes the Brotherhood blind, which is plenty tall for my 64"recurve, and sitting in a chair. it also has vertical windows that go all the way to the ground, so you could raise it up like you were talking about.  (http://media.midwayusa.com/productimages/880x660/Primary/816/816884.jpg)

I build blinds from dead fall. They look like a three sided lean too with an open top. Fits any bow and you don't have to drag them around. Also you can consider a ghillie suit. This makes for a very portable blind indeed.

I shoot a 68" bow with little or no cant. I have never been comfortable in any blind I have tried. I build brush blinds.

I have a Primos Club2 I think it's called, it's huge plus has a skylight flap that lets you poke your upper limb up out of it

Works great
