Just wondering how they are doing and how the season is going for them. Been reading and watching these guys for a lot of years. Never met them personally, but I fell like I know em. Hope all is well fellas!
Thanks
Was wondering the same thing.
They are busy doing their thing. Barry said they've been hunting everyday. I like to hear that.
Good to hear.
Those guys will be hunting for a long time yet

Gene shot a doe last week. Haven't heard any reports of Barry getting on the scoreboard yet. Gene helped me drag out a buck that I shot the first weekend of the season. He is doing well considering his surgery earlier in the year.
Good to hear! I appreciate the older guys that made traditional bowhunting what it is...something to be proud of!
Thanks for the report
LOL Ron, that was on my 50th birthday cake, my youngest son drew it!
Hope Gene and Barry are well and hunting hard!

Why doesn't it surprise me, Kenny, that Ron would somehow have inside information o n that???
Happy belated, Ken!
Thanks Doc, that was almost 8 years back tho.... :D
JohnV- That is impressive Gene is dragging out deer after his surgery. Have you posted any photos of your buck?
I'm still at it. I feel great. Back to shooting my hunting weight bows and I'm still pure hell at 20 feet! I killed a nice doe the other day and passed up a really nice 7 1/2 year old 4x4 on opening day at 14 steps. Very tempting! Really big body but his rack is not the best in the neighborhood. I wish I had a second buck tag for Iowa but if I tag out early, I'm on the bench until almost Christmas. John's wife was filming us drag out his nice buck last weekend. I was going to fake "the Big One" and go down clutching my chest on video but I thought I had better not scare his new bride.
"still hell at 20' and thinking about faking "the Big One".
Appears all is well.
Congrats on Your Doe Gene.
Happy Birthday to you and your brother.
Glad to hear you're still yourself, big guy.
Took the afternoon off to try to catch up on paperwork (I'm having two more bootcamps in March,2016). It was pretty windy this afternoon anyway. I might have messed up this morning though. At 7:15 I had a really nice 5.5 yr. old 4x4 that was pushing 150 inches walk by. Broadside at 18 yds. from the ground. Big, mature body. My only excuse was it's still early and I'm too picky. I actually have one more tag than Gene but I'm really stingy with it and in fact have never filled it even in previous years. I know.. I know.. sometimes I'm a real idiot! Gene has pictures of the one he passed up on opening day and I have a picture taken in Sept. of the one from this morning but neither of us is smart enough to know how to do that stuff.
Anyway, we are both feeling well and are very blessed in order to continue to live the lives we do. Thank you for the kind words and best of luck to all. BW
Is this the one you are talking about UB?

:wavey: :archer:
Yes.. Steve-O that's him. Thanks. Funny he looked a little bigger this morning though. And his body has really filled out eating all those acorns since Sept., which should have made the rack look smaller. By the way, those dates are obviously off on the camera. Maybe he better not test me again. BW
Keep us posted >>>-------->
Gene,
I think you are nuts to pass up a 7 1/2 year old buck...

You should buy yourself a little chunk of property to get that extra tag...it may be more pressure than you can take. I may have to take over as "designated hitter" :goldtooth:
Wow!! He is a tank. It would take a lot of self control to pass that one up. Happy hunting
You boys are too much!
Keep us in the loop. And I'll have Julie send you out a "package" real soon!
He walked by at 14 steps on film. Very long brow tines too. Beautiful body but the rack was not the best in the neighborhood. Kind of like an old girlfriend of mine :>)
You guys are the best and always entertaining!!
I love all racks big and small :biglaugh:
Glad to hear you guys are still going strong. I'm lucky to even see deer like that let alone pass'n em up. Big ole bucks like that are scarce in my neck of the woods. People around here won't let em grow. Keep doin what you doin, glad all is well!

Ha, in fact I was!! But I first heard that story at the PBS banquet in Cincinnati.
So great to see you boys are still having fun out there. Nice bucks but sure you have others on the menu for this fall. I gave Ohio a try this past week but the weather got the best of me. Best of luck the rest of the season.
I'm hope'n there's another video in the works!?
Where are the old guys? Need an update on their hunting season. Thanks
Come November has pretty much BEcome November and still no big ones on the ground for me. Speaking for myself, I've had a great season. I've had ultra-close encounters with several real studs. I'm talking 6 yds.; 9 yds.; 12 yds. where I didn't fire an arrow because of bad angles; twigs/brush, etc. Still very exciting. I'll fess up I did hit a big one in the shoulder and lost him. But I'm getting local rumors he's still going, so that's good. I also missed a great one at 22 yds. The arrow was heading home and suddenly took an abrupt right turn and ended right in front of his chest for a clean miss (thank you Lord.) That's my story and I'm sticking to it. I'm not complaining at all but I mentioned to a compound shooting friend if I was able to hold back a compound like they can I believe I would have two more B&C caliber bucks this year. Oh well... that's my choice. I wussed out this morning. I awoke to freezing rain. A sheet of ice on everything. The same is predicted for tomorrow... and there goes November. My goals just got lowered. You guys will still like me won't you? Ha. Best wishes to all. BW
Thanks Barry!!! Keep after them!!!
It ain't over yet Barry...keep at it and Good Luck!
Good luck guys!
I just finished my annual hunting tradition and finished reading all your books again. Keep learning more and more each reading.
Uncle Gene got on the scoreboard this past weekend while hunting at my property. He shot a fat doe at 15 yards from a ground blind.
