Hey guys, I have a friend wanting to sell me a Bear Black Bear recurve bow. 60 inch 50 pounds patent number 2 843 113, the riser is natural coloured wood and the limbs are black glass lamination. I have yet to handle the bow but from the pictures it looks to be in good shape.
Does anyone have any experience with this particular model? How does it differ from a grizzly aside from the 2 extra inches in length? I have been wanting to get a grizzly but I thought this might be a good deal too, what do you all think?
thanks for your help!
The Black Bear recurve, was a very solid & fine shooting, lower priced bow. Usually they were sold in "sets" with accessories, at the bigger box stores. They don't really have the "collector value" as some of the "classics" but they're still fine bows!!!
I have a 35# one that my son shoots. I haven't ever done a side by side comparison, but I'm thinking its a little under the Grizzly as far as performance goes, but still a fine bow. Like woodchucker said, not much collector value so be careful not to overpay for it.
The Black Bear was my first real bow. A plain jane that shot like any other bear bow of equal poundage. The riser was plain unstained maple and black glass on both sides. I wish I still had mine.
Looked like a nice simple bow but I just won and **** auction for a 50 pound grizz
thanks for all the info guys and happy shooting
