Title: Arrow Recommendation
Post by: tracker12 on September 30, 2015, 09:24:00 PM
I have been using Beman ICS Hunters for a while now and they are great for shooting around but I am unhappy with how easily they break.  I have had several break after shooting a deer.

Looking for another small diameter arrow that will hold together better.  I thought about the Easton axis but hate the hit insert.

Beman centershot
They use the rps insert or the brass break off rps one

I don't know how small of a diameter you're looking for but I have been using arrow dynamics for over a decade they're tough as nails

Not trying to burst any bubbles, but if your arrow stays in a deer (meaning you did not get a complete passthru on impact), you are very likely to end up with a broken arrow, no matter which one you choose! When a critter runs with an arrow sticking out of both sides of it, arrows get broken. I look at it as part of the process.

X2 on beman center shots. Like mentioned above they have a smaller dia. than standard carbon arrows but don't use the HiT insert. Another plus, they are cheaper than the axis or fmj.

If you like the Axis but hate the HIT, use the Goldtip outserts that they sell for their Kinetics.  I used them on FMJ shafts.  You can install then with the low temp hot glue as well

I got full penetration, but not a pass through, on a pig. Gold Tip 3555, with about 8 - 10" sticking out the far side. Pig gave me the finger by rolling on my arrow and surprise - it broke    :)

I had the last laugh, though. Sure was good eating.

Thanks for the info on the outserts.  I have some Axis and FMJ's.  Might try them.  I actually bought some Centershots but the spine was to weak.  Might try another batch.
