Hi gang,
I am brand new to this group and just getting back into archery. I am currently outside of Pittsburgh and I am looking for a local pro shop to get a few things. Can anyone make a suggestion. I know I can buy online, but the counter conversations are often worth more than I might save by buying online.
Dave
Most local hunting stores dont know alot about traditional archery. Most of them dont sell the right arrows needed for some of our bows. You will be better contacting one our sponsors on here and they can get you what you need with out hassel or wasting money on arrows and equipment that dont work together. BigJim has a sell on used bows and usuall has blemished arrows for for sale. The blems are only consmetic. Alot of people use them.
Welcome from Kentucky!
exactly what ^ he said. you will find very little help at a shop.
Dave,
i will be glad to help you in anyway possible. Just message me on here or email me at hcbstrings@gmail.com. Getting into traditional archery can be a little overwhelming. With tuning arrows to a bow, etc it is tough, especially when you're learning form, etc.
Do you have a bow?
Do you have arrows?
Do you have a way to fletch arrows?
I ask all these, because that will help all of us out in where to guide you next.
Daniel
AN internet search for traditional archery shops near Pittsburgh yields several shops but unsure of their level of knowledge in traditional archery.
I would start with that list and call them.
Check for local archery clubs and see if they have a traditional group.
My local club has about 8 of us that shoot together.
If you ever get east, LAS is a good spot to visit.
Check out trout outdoors. He has a traditional shop in Madison, PA
Welcome to the Gang!

Welcome :wavey:
Welcome and enjoy!
One think you should know is you may receive a lot of advice. In the end you need to listen a little and experiment a lot. Eventually you will find out what works for you.
It would be OK to visit "pro shops" but do not take their word for Gospel. Ask questions here, talk with sponsors and have fun. Its a journey and we all start somewhere.
Also see if you can connect with other trad shooters in your area, I think more will be gained from them than any "pro Shop"
welcome and enjoy.
Hey Dave I'm Dave and just getting restarted as well. I am finding the getting back into it a lot if fun bit intimidating with arrow selection. Ended up getting a bow I like and I wish you same luck. Welcome!
