I'm a selfbow guy but this year I have decided to use this recurve for deer season. It belonged to my uncle. This summer he was helping a friend work on his roof when he fell from the ladder and was killed. This bow has been hanging in my garage for years. My uncle gave it to my dad and he gave it to me several years ago. It has hung on the wall in my garage since then. I've never gave it a second thought until a few days ago. I was shooting my selfbow and it was like I heard this bow calling to me. It was the strangest thing. I turned around and there is was hanging on the wall just like it always has but now it was standing out like it was the first time I had seen it. I cleaned the dust off of it and looked it over. I didn't see any cracks or damage to it. The string looked ancient so I made a new one for it. I didn't want to string it up or shoot it until I had someone who knows recurves look it over. I took it to a friends house today and he said it was good to go. I started shooting it and realized its a little different than shooting a selfbow. After I adjusted to it I was hitting pretty good with it. I'm going to practice as much as I can until opening day. I hope I can get a deer with Uncle Jim's bow.

I was going to replace the worn shelf but it holds the arrow on nicely and is quiet. I think I'll leave it just like he left it.

Would a little leather conditioner aid that dried strike plate?

Nice looking bow! I bet it has some "mojo" with it! Give us a report after you've taken your deer with Uncle Jim's bow.

Thanks guys. I hope I can do his bow justice this season. I just sharpened up some broad heads for it. I have a few more things to finish up and I'll be ready for opening day Thursday. I've got my eye on a fat doe that's been hanging around the yard lately.
Good luck with your Uncle's bow!!!
