I got on this site looking for opinions not long ago. I appreciate each and every one of you who replied and got me moving in the right direction.
A BIG THANKS to Mangonboat who sent me a fantastic vintage bow that I am loving. I didn't make the mistake of getting over bowed and I didn't have to take out a loan to buy a new bow. Mangonboat's help actually got me shooting months sooner than I would have otherwise. My form is a work in progress: the challenge is engaging, fun, and my kids are getting involved as well :)
Stack helped me keep from getting too nuts over the details and David L. spent some time getting me on track as well. Thanks guys!
I also want to thank Tommy at RMS Gear for taking time to help me get some very good used arrows along with a finger tab - an excellent Bateman - and I mean it when I say that's the fastest, easiest to deal with online ordering I've ever experienced.
Thanks TradGang, I will be sticking around :campfire:

I guess we all have this experience at many points in our TG life. I've had tons of help from most of the "regulars" on here at one point or another. There's always something to learn and there's always someone to lend a hand. One day you will be helping someone too I guarantee it.
RMSG is a special place. I lov to go there when I am in Colorado. Love that place!

One of the many inspiring gifts of the Trad Gang family.
Thats Great and good luck on your trad journey. Just think of all the behind the scenes acts of kindness you never hear about on this site, I'm sure there are many.

DennyK, I am sure you're right about all the unknown kindness we never witness.
I realized I should've posted a pic of my first shot after work from the kitchen window, 5 yards away:

And then later after dinner:

Like I said, I'm a work in progress, but I'm really happy to be flingin' arrows!
The inevitable question: what bow are you shooting? I really like the lines...
Slowbow', I guess I should've shared that earlier.
1967 Ben Pearson 709 Hunter, 42# @28".
When I got this bow in the mail I liked it a lot, a whole lot. Then I took my first shot...my 17 year-old says, "Dad! That bow is like, soooo quiet!" Then he adds very quietly, "I want to kill a deer with that." Now I love it.
The 709 Hunters are good bows. Yours is a beauty. Keep practicing, and have fun.
