I need some advice on picking an arrow for my bow. I am relatively new to this so wanting to cut down on my errors.
I have an older Ben Pearson Apex.. 55@28. Im wanting to shoot the Goldtip Traditionals. 160 grain grizzleys cut at 30". The spine calculator on 3 rivers archery recommends the 55/75. Dynamic spine is 60.1 and arrow spine is showing 64.8. Are these numbers close enough to each other to work? Should I shoot a heavier broadhead?
I dont always trust the spine calculator. The best thing to do is buy a test kit and try different point weight combos and then make up your mind after bareshafting and playing with your point weight.
I have learned the spine calculator isnt that close anymore. Best bet is what you have done by posting here and members will get you real close when they reply. Just be patient someone will chime in.... Best of luck.. Best forum is right here....
i second the test kit, it will tell you more than all the my set up is this or thats you'll hear.
your form and other variables will determine your final arrow combo.
you just gotta play with it. that being said, i shoot a bear grizzly 50#@28 GT trads 5575 100 gr brass insert, 175 gr point 29" BOP, 3x5 fletch. they shoot pretty decent.
i could shoot the 7595 for a little extra weight.
the combo you mention would probably be a good start IMO. good luck

What I would reccommend would be to not be set on a certain length, but cut to tune. If the numbers in your original post are good (and they do seem to be in the realm of what should work), you could leave that shaft 1/4" or 1/2" longer and be tuned near perfect.
Also, if you are using a claculator like Stu Millers or 3Rivers, that has a Personal Form Factor (PFF), unless you are one of the lucky ones who ends up with a "0" PFF, the calculator will be off (that can range from slightly to waaaaay off) unless you have a known well-tuned arrow to enter and get the PFF set for you.
The only constant I have when I tune is point weight. This is because I have a good amount of $$$ tied up in my German Kinetic broadheads, and those are what I am going to use. Every other factor is variable to me till I get a great tune. Once my arrows are tuned good, the critters better watch out!!!
