Just after first light 3 does came busting through the brush right under my stand. I have no idea what startled them, but it surprised me too.. Luckily I was in a stand with a lot of cover. I was able to stand up and make a quick mouth grunt and get one doe to freeze about 13 yards away in light brush. I looked at the doe and saw a clear path for my arrow, then instinct took over. I came to full draw, focused on my one spot and let fly, the doe immeditly busted off through the brush. It happened so fast I had no idea if I hit her or not.
Initially I thought I missed because the only thing I really knew was the sound the arrow made upon impact. And it sounded just like It went thru brush and impacted the ground like the sound of shooting high.
I waited about 45 minutes and went to look for my arrow in the brush, I found good blood. I trailed for about 20 yds and heard a deer blow, so I decided to back out mark the last blood seen with an arrow and come back in an hour.
When I returned I picked up the trail again and shortly found the broken arrow. About 75 yds from the initial shot I found my doe, she had been dead a while, so I really never needed to back out.

Awesome! You put in the work and it paid off. No better feeling. Hoping to do the same this year. I picked up the recurve for that very reason. I used to shoot 3 shots from my rifle every year and that was all the practice i needed. Just didn't feel as rewarding.
Awesome!! Congrats!!! :clapper:
