Title: A little leatherwork, and my new to me '66 Kodiak is ready to go
Post by: tomsm44 on September 19, 2015, 11:51:00 AM
I posted last week about trading my '69 Super K for a '66 Kodiak that's a little more manageable weight.  I'm already setup to hunt with my longbow this season, but if I manage to get my first trad kill with it pretty early, I'd like to take this one out.  It's just that sweet of a shooter.  I've got my back quiver loaded up with my arrows for my longbow and I wanted this one ready to grab and go if I want to, but there's no chance of picking up another back quiver.  Then I had an idea.  When I first got a recurve a few years back, I found a cheap clamp on 4 arrow Kwikee Kwiver in the back of a local archery shop.  I didn't like it because the cheap plastic hood that clamps onto one of the arrows was loud, wouldn't stay straight, and would sometimes fall off when I shot it, so it went up on a shelf.  I got it out and built me a leather hood for it.  I took an old arrow that was cracked at the nick, cut it a little shorter, and attached to the hood.  I attached this arrow to the back arrow slot and put a few drops of super glue around it to keep it all stationary.  That leaves three slots open for actual arrows.  The hood was a little floppy so I bent some 1 1/2" wide SS thin stock into a frame fro the inside of the hood.  That's what the rivets you can see are attached to.  It's no Selway, but it works ok for now and doesn't seem to make it any louder.  Looks pretty decent on the '66 also.

You will love that bow.  I picked up a 66 Kodiak last winter and it is the best shooter I own or have owned.
