I just bought a Great Northern Quick Mount quiver, and I'm just now realizing that the brass limb bushing that the limb bolt passes through has to be removed to properly mount the quiver.
I don't know if tapping the bushings out with a dowel, etc. will cause any damage. Not sure if bushings are glued, etc.
I tried to contact the bowyer, Chris Cox, to check with him, but I believe he's out hunting until October.
If anyone has any insight on this, it's much appreciated.
There are special bushing you use when using the GN Quick Mount... You dont remove anything from the habu. So not sure if you got these with your purchase or you bought the regular Quick Mount by itself without the Black Widow adapters.

I actually sold my Quick Mount but kept the hardware that makes it work on the Habu...
I think what I did was drop the little cone shaped adapter in the Habu mount...that creates a flat surface. Then place the QuickMount on that...and then take the larger concave adapter and place on top. Using the longer bolt it fits down in the dish portion perfectly...tighten it down and is perfect product.
If you dont have the rear limb mount adapters let me know as I kept mine.
If you can afford it or find one, the habu tapped screws and quiver is the best mounting system for this bow. I have a kwyk styk that I have one on. =)

OK, pretty sure I know what you're saying, but I called 3 Rivers and spoke to one of their technical experts. That's who told me to remove the bushing, and it seems to make better mechanical sense that way. It looks like the hole in the plastic GN Quick Mount adapter is too large for the limb bolt's head...or am I missing somthing? It's hard to tell how the BW adapter is supposed to work with this setup from the pics.
Lots of technical experts out there will tell you to do things that they would not do themselves...buyer beware when accessing free information...you often get exactly what you are paying for it when it comes to value

Save yourslf some grief and get the Black Widow mounting hardware for your Habu. I would not take the chance of damaging a beautiful bow such as yours. If you talk to anyone give Jerry or Bobby Brumm a call at Great Northern.

Not sure how to say it any clearer than first time but added pictures this time after telling you I had exact same quiver on my Habu before. Maybe a Sand Table since you are tabbed it appears from name...ever done any training at Hunter, North Field or Moses Lake? ;)
I have a Habu Recurve that is similar to the Black Widows....you did not say which Habu you had...so if your parts are not like this...then disregard. Guessing Chris uses same hardware and setup as it is solid as a rock 16 years later still. If they are same...then listen carefully.
I have a Habu recurve...64 inches...built in 1999. I had a GN Quick Mount on it for years...recently sold it as never used it and prefer a side quiver.
I did not have to remove the bushing from limb...and recommend you dont do it. If you want to listen to someone that has never owned a Habu or never put that exact quiver on it...then go right ahead.
I told you what works.
The Black Widow kit comes with two sets of brass bushings (small one that is cone shaped and larger one that a new longer bolt goes into.See pics below)
Here is my Habu to prove I know what I am talking about... but go ahead and talk to guy that has never done it and is talking out his ass.

Okay...here is the Black Widow kit I told you about before and others have mentioned. Comes with both sets of brass bushings and a set of longer limb bolts..same threat pitch, same head...just longer.

Next you see same parts with removed Habu limb next to it for ease of portrayal...obviously the limb would be on the riser still with original bolt removed to do this.

Now take the small cone shaped part and place it inside the Habu insert as shown...this creates a flat surface for the QUICK MOUNT tabs to sit upon.

At this point you will place one of each of the Quick Mount tabs on the flat surface..use bolt to help line it up. There is tape on the QM tabs to hold them in place when bolt removed and for mounting.
Next place the large bushing on top of the Quick Mount tab which will sandwich the plastic tab between the original brass insert with cone installed and this larger bushing.

Now take the long bolt...and snug down to reattach your limbs to your riser...with the Quick Mount tab sandwiched between these items for both top and bottom limbs.

Adjust angle according to preferences but this is very secure and does not require removing that insert.
At this point I cant do anything but strongly suggest you ignore what 3Rivers told you and do this. If not...be prepared to buy a new Habu after you ruin the limb trying to remove that insert and Chris Cox yells at you for not listening to me.
Go on website and order Black Widow mounting kit NOW...or order a new set of limbs from Chris Cox for when you destroy your current set for not listening.

If the the little brass cone happens to rattle inside the limb bushing than use some Teflon tape around the cone.
Let's see... a Habu costs $1950 with a long wait time. Why would you want to risk messing up that bow to accommodate a $100 quiver? There are plenty of good bowquivers on the market that will work with your bow.

Sand table would be really nice too. Haven't hunted at the places you mentioned, but I did hunt/spearfish quite a bit in Hawaii.

Thanks. I spoke with Bob, and he wasn't familiar with the Habu hardware.
I'll be ordering the BW kit today.

I have not hunted there either but spent some time at those locations training with guys that wore a tab similar to what you have in your forum name. ;)
