The shrink wrap avenger strikes again...

Maybe I'll get one more season out of it? It was cut nearly in half behind the front legs!
-
Sure, why not. Thats a good idea plus those targets arnt cheap.
-
I would wait a year on that one and let those antlers fill in a little more.
A couple of my targets could use some re foaming and body work. If I wrap my target and punch the foam spray nozzle in, using the wrap like a form, maybe I can fill some voids in and around the kill zone.
-
Yep!
Just yesterday my I sent a pic to my buds of a real tight group right in the "spot". All they could do was make fun of my poor weary target!

Great idea. Anything to extend the life of these expensive targets. And I would shoot that "monster" without a second thought.
-
I tried to do the exact same thing yesterday. My target broke in half before I got it done. Headed out to buy a new one in a bit.
-
Archie,
Get some repair foam and you can have him good as new in an hour.

I don't feel so bad now. My target is the rear end of a deer and the head with a bag behind it. I won't post pictures. It's pretty sad looking:)
-
mine has grey duct tape holding it together
-
The wife bought me a $99 3D deer for fathers day, it's completely trash now, arrows started passing through in July, head fell off, front leg fell off.
-
What is repair foam? Or did you just use a can of spray foam?
-
I have no problem shooting a deer in a cast. Or a blind deer...a stupid deer...
-
Msbow,
I didn't use any "repair foam", and I'm not sure what it is. In this case, my target has a replaceable section for the vitals, and at the outline of that section, the body of the target had been severed at the bottom (heart area), and almost severed at the top (high broadhead shots that nearly severed the spine). I had my shooting buddy hold the target together while I wrapped the shrink-wrap really tight around the deer from top to bottom and from breast to tail.
-
Yep, you can patch them up pretty well with a can of expanding foam from the local home supply store.
-
Oh, really good idea thanks!
-
Yes, the shrink wrap works pretty well, but I'm having a hard time getting past shooting a deer that looks like it either just got out of the hospital, or is on its way to the prom.

That right there is hilarious quote as any I've seen!
-
If the "body cast" left my arms free ...........YES! I would shoot it.
-
Well look at it this way, once you shoot it it's already wrapped for the freezer. :-))
-
Mine did fall apart behind the legs cuz I didnt do that. Shot through 2 in less than a year and a half. DANG! thanks for the idea though!

Just think of it as helping to end it's suffering.

Nice

I wasn't sure what to expect from this thread, lol. I was hoping that it wasn't you that was in the body cast.
My next thought was yes, as long as I could make it into the woods somehow, I sure would. I'd have to buy some bigger camo to fit over the cast, but heck yeah. :bigsmyl:
That's a good idea Archie, and I'm glad it turned out to be the deer and not you.

I do my up the same way and it works pretty good. Make sure you get the form for large jobs from home depot. It is a lighter color but they both seem to work well. One tip is don't wait till the target is too badly distroyed, that way you can get two treatments and extend the life of the target. Another tip is depending where you live it can take up to 2 days for the foam to completely set. You will know if you did not wait long enough as your arrows will have the foam stuck to them and it is a pain to get off.
