Title: Zwickey Eskilites or Delta 2 blade for 44-45# recurve and 2016 shafts?
Post by: riser on September 07, 2015, 01:15:00 PM
Requesting wisdom.  I have a recurve that I draw to 29.5" and 44-45 lbs and would like to see what Zwickey broads would be considered "go" or "no go" due to draw weight/shaft diameter limits.

Would the Zwickey Eskilites 5/16" 2-blade screw-on 135 grain be the best choice for a 2016 (5/16" diam shaft), or would the Zwickey Delta 2-blade 11/32" screw-on broadheads be "a possibility" with its heavier weight (~160 grains), and larger diameter? Will it FIT the 2016 xx75 aluminum shafts?

These shafts fly well with both 125 and 145 grain field points for weak/strong (left/right) tuning.

I presume the short answer is " try it and report back"-and cost is low for either (<$18/set of 3). Just curious if Deltas should have a starting point of heavier draw and thicker arrow shafts.  I'm new to recurve deer hunting,so I welcome the experience of those who have learned.

Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure either will work well for you as long as they are sharp and you put them in the right place.  I am a big fan of the Deltas.

Either will work.  I, too, prefer the larger deltas.

Try both and report back!  :)
I agree with the above gentlemen, either will  do the job,if you do yours. I think though you will be more likely to get exit wound with the Eskilites though. This usually makes recovery easier. Just something to think about! Zwickeys are hard to beat.

Have always had better bloodtrails with the deltas.

Big broadhead and smaller shaft may help penetration , not that you would notice a difference tho.

I've killed a lot of stuff with the bigger Delta's but with a much heavier bow.  I suggest using the smaller Eskimo as it will penetrate better since it is smaller diameter.  You can always increase the weight of the Eskimo by using steel screw-in broadhead adapters.  If you find you are shooting completely through stuff, you could then try the bigger Delta to increase your cutting diameter.

Terry green has a good point. For whitetails and similar sized game I'd go with deltas.
