Title: Hoyt Buffalo...What a shooter!
Post by: Flatshooter on September 04, 2015, 05:41:00 PM
Bought a new Hoyt Buffalo 62" 50# @28" at a great price... man what a shooter!! I have shot and owned several high end bows as well as some middle of the road dogs and I have to say I am really impressed with this bow. It is a tack driver!! Draws smoothly out to my 28+" draw and casts a 622 grn arrow with real authority. I recently changed my grip on the string to a deep hook and have never been more confident of my shots. How about 5" groups at 20 yards.

Can you shoot it off the shelf?

The Hoyt Buffalo is a sweet bow, very pointable and accurate with the delexed riser. The Buffalo is made to be shot off the shelf. The Buffalo's riser is made with a nice radius on the side plate and shelf.Of course you can always put a stick on elevated rest. The new Tiburon is more designed for an elevated rest with a plunger hole. But comes with thick pad spacers for shooting off the shelf if you want.I love the grip on them and the adjustability of both of them.

I love my Dorado!  I'm looking to switch to a longbow, but I have nothing bad to say about my Hoyt recurve.  It's been as tough as one could hope.

If I get a metal riser bow it will be the Dorado or Buffalo.

I just got one myself yesterday and am pretty impressed myself. Seems pretty fast and easy to shoot. Takes some getting use to the look and feel of a manufactured bow versus a custom all wood bow.

Yeah, I love the woods too but I just shoot this one too well to leave it home next week when I start chasing elk in CO.

I agree, they are a fantastic bow. I have a Gamemaster that I will never part with no matter how much I love pretty wood bows. Hoyt really hit the 10-ring with these two.

Get a new aftermarket string. It gets even better. And once you adjust your limbbolts be sure to tighten the Allen screws from the back to lock it all in place and quiet it up. I learned that the hard way and did not see it on the original DVD.
Had mine for a few years and love it. Fast, quiet and its a natural pointer. Shooting gt 300 kenetics with 300gr field points and big magnus m1 and cutthroat heads. Bareshaft. And blades hit the same out to my ranges.

I just seen this thread so I figured I would post. I'm not a fan of metal risers or a fan of manufactured bows, but A friend of mine got me to shoot his Buffalo the other day and to say the least, I was very impressed. So impressed that I ordered one. They point great, are butter smooth, hit with authority and are a pleasure to shoot. Looking forward to having my own soon.

Phenomenal bows!!! They will digest just about any arrow you send through it, in a short order I might add. Silent, well balanced and flat out shoot!!

Have you guys found the limb weights close to what's marked, or do they tend to be a little heavier? I have owned a GM2 and a Dorado before, and I know the limb system is different, but those limbs were well over what was marked.

Yes they do seem a bit heavier than listed. But you can adjust the limbs up or down by a few pounds by adjusting the limbbolt settings.

I shot one for several years but sold it to go with ILF. It was a nice shooting bow though.
