Title: zipper Z4
Post by: malcom.f on September 03, 2015, 09:21:00 AM
Being lucky enough to live 20 miles from Bill at zipper bows has changed how I feel about "custom bows".  Bill was generous enough to have me visit after normal business hours. Im going to keep this short but I went to order my new zipper recurve and had everything planned out
needless to say I tried the new Z4 limbs and WOW.
Those limbs are amazing the draw is like nothing else I have ever tried. And the custom bow part Bill took the time to make sure the riser and finish is exactly what I want. If anyone is looking for a smooth draw and a real "personal" feeling bow purchase I encourage you to at least call zipper bows.

Bill and Tracy are the best at service and craft. Zippers are tie with Silvertips at the very top of 100 or so bows Ive shot.

I have several Zippers and really like them. I am planning on ordering a set of the new limbs in the very near future.

Doesn't get any better then Bill Dunn and his bows. The Z4 limbs are hands down the best recurve limb I have ever shot !!!

Thank you, Malcom. I sure appreciate that. Thank you all for the kind words! All this kindness is enough to give a guy a big head.  Although Brad (Biathlonman) is the only honest one in the bunch.   :goldtooth:

Felix  Your bow will get the textured finish this morning and it will be finished. WOW is it ever FANCY!  It will still need a few days to let all of that finish get really good and cured before shipping it.

Michael The base price for limbs is $425. To figure the price on the Z4 limbs which are carbon back and belly with foam core.We just add up the options
425 base price
100 carbon on the back
100 carbon on the belly
30 foam core
655 total for the Z4 limbs.

I checked the Z4's out at Denton and was very impressed to say the least. Bill and Tracy are top notch on all accounts.

Is the Z4 a different design altogether or just different materials and carbon on both front/back?

Heard great things about the limbs from those that shot them

md, they are a totally different design. From the wedge angle to the static tips. The double carbon allowed Bill to get more stability in the tip allowing him to be more aggressive with their design. Its what is giving the limbs so much stability and more speed over his evolution limbs (that are great by the way).

I was wondering for all that have tried these limbs do you feel the "let off" in them. I did and I cant believe the difference in the new design.

Absolutely Bill told me that the Evo limbs gained 2.5 lbs per inch and the Z4 limbs gain is 2 lbs late in the cycle. This is made possible by the new longer static tip design.

Any chance these will be made in an ILF limb?

do we have any kind of numbers as far as speed?  I know numbers don't matter in the big picture, but I do like to see them.

Putting a number to "fast" is always good in my opinion.

I know their are some pics and speed numbers of the Z4 on the Zipper facebook page. And I'm sure their are some members that have had more experience with them than I have.

Tried one at Denton Hill. And now I own it. 60inch 48lbs. The bow came with a few extras and  the best part of the deal a big hug from Tracy.

I couldn't find any info on the Z4 on their FB page.  Where would it be on the page?

Look about half way down the page just below the first stock bow of the week pictures. You will see
both strung and unstrung profile pictures. My reply to customers questions. You will also find a review that Kevin Merrow from Tradgeeks did on the Z4 limbs.
