Title: Nock high in flight?
Post by: lovethehunt on August 27, 2015, 09:49:00 AM
I have been retuning my longbow back to carbon arrows and shooting bare shafts and fletched shafts. I have gotten them to group together but am still seeing nock high in flight. A broad head also groups with the others.  Anyone see this happen?my arrows are 400 spine with 300gr point and insert combo. 29.5 inches out of a 52@29 longbow.

I was just looking into this the other day, I have the same problem.  I did a TG search and found this from last year.

It just might be carbon and the extra FOC weight. ?

If I'm setting up a new arrow combination and see nock high, I usually raise the nock point just a little higher. If the condition worsens, than I know I have too high a nock point and lower it until I get level flight. If the condition improves, I figure the arrow was bouncing off the shelf and my nocking point was too low.

Seems to save time for me by verifying that the condition is caused by a too-high nocking point.

I get that with high FOC arrows no matter where the nocking point is.The broadheads fly and penetrate well though.

I can get nock high bare shafting if the bow is canted. Keep the bow vertical flies perfect.

Good things to look at. I'll do a little more experimenting.  I am confident spine is good. Broad heads fly right with fletched shafts.
Thanks for the help.
